Academic Review Conferences
Last week, we had students leading conversations with their mentors and parents about their learning. For weeks leading up to the Academic Review Conferences (ARC), students reviewed their Semester 1 achievement and growth data and reflected upon their learning goals, knowing they would use this data to lead the conversations.
The purpose of ARCs is to give students greater agency in their learning and support them to be active learners by taking initiative to ask questions, volunteer answers, set learning goals, review learning, apply feedback and contribute actively to classes.
Through ARCs students reflected on whether they are demonstrating these active learning behaviours in each of their classes as they are critical skills students need to be successful in school and in life beyond school. Thank you to all parents/carers and students who engaged in these important conversations, we look forward to continuing ARCs and strengthening our holistic approach to learning conversations.
Production
For those lucky enough to see this year’s production of Chicago: Teen Edition, I’m sure you’d all agree - it was outstanding. Theatre lovers who are familiar with Chicago would know that it’s a dancing show and the choreography is pivotal to its success. Wantirna delivered in spades with fabulous choreography and sensational singing, with some of our leads belting out some big songs.
A special shout out to Emily Gray who perhaps had the most challenging role in the cast being a ‘super swing’ for all the leads. Not only did she know her part as a Merry Murderess, but she could do all the leads and during the run played both Roxy and Mama Morton on different nights. What a superstar! Thank you to the entire production cast and crew for another great show…word on the street is planning for next year has already begun!
Senior Ball
Last night our Year 10 and 11 students dressed up in their finest attire to attend the Senior Ball. It was a big night, with 354 students in attendance - our biggest Senior Ball to date! The behaviour of our students was outstanding as they hit the dance floor in droves and had a great time. At the end of night, nearly all students thanked their teachers as they left which was really lovely - we were super proud of them!
Term 3 Parent Forum
Tue 2 Sep, 6pm Staff Lounge
It’s been a busy and productive year in facility upgrades this year, in addition to building our new Mooroop Centre. At one stage, we had four projects underway at the same time which kept our facilities team on their toes!
With these new upgrades and buildings complete, or near completion, we invite parents/careers to come along to Tuesday’s forum for a tour and chat as we discuss the finished projects and discuss what future projects might look like.
Please let us know if you would like to attend: https://forms.office.com/r/e6TB0QyJ4M
