Middle Years - Term 4 - Weeks 1 & 2

Years 3 & 4

In Literacy, we have started our new novel ‘Charlottes web’ by E.B White. The students have started writing their own narrative story. During spelling and grammar lessons, we have been focusing on prefixes ‘dis’ and looking at Graphemes, Phonemes and  the  Grapheme-Phoneme Correspondence (GPC) which is the relationship between the written form of a word (grapheme) and its spoken sounds (phonemes). The phoneme /er/ can be represented by the grapheme ‘ir’, like in the words skirt and swirl.

Maths

In Maths, we have moved on to a new topic and been focusing on Data Investigation. We have been looking at collecting data, tallying the data and then interpreting graphs such as column graphs and pictographs.

Religion

In Religion, we have started a new topic ‘Reaching out and serving others’ in which we explore what it means to reach out and serve others and how they link together, as well as the messages found in scripture which challenge us to live how Jesus lived.

Inquiry

In Inquiry, we have started our new topic, ‘What makes Australia Unique’ the students have been investigating everyone's cultral backgrounds and diving deeper into their own origins.
