Commendations and celebrations

There is a very true adage about the best way to encourage our children, which is to 'catch them being good' and this week, it has been very easy to catch our GSG students being good. And they are good at all sorts of things! These are the moments to celebrate their many talents and see their values in action: these are key parts of what makes GSG a strong, vibrant community where each child is celebrated.

This week we have celebrated in all sorts of ways! Yesterday saw the culmination of a term of preparation for our Arts Showcase as part of our Values and Christian Service (VaCS) programme. The hotly contested debate between Baudin and Wilson arguing 'Cringe culture is hurting young people' was a nail biter, followed by an outstanding display of musical talent from each House group.  The afternoon was topped off by a surprise performance, about which the crowd went wild! Check the Secondary School page for more details!

We also celebrated students who have achieved a commendation from teachers by inviting them to a special lunch with our student leaders. This week, those commendations included a senior student dropping into Academic Support to help younger peers, a student who presented at the VaCS Showcase and students who have been kind to others and worked especially hard in class.

In Primary School, we celebrated the superpowers of the Year Ones at their assembly last week and they also showed off their reading skills with their Djinda friends, make sure you check the Primary School page! It is through all these commendations and celebrations that we recognise the diverse talents and we can see the values of our students in action.

Kingfisher Fair & Open Day postponement

We have been closely monitoring the weather forecast and with everyone’s safety and enjoyment in mind, we have made the tough decision to postpone the Kingfisher Fair and Open Day.

While we are disappointed not to celebrate together this weekend, we are excited to announce that the event will be rescheduled for 2026, with the exact date to be confirmed. We are already looking forward to making it an even bigger and better celebration next year!

In the meantime, we warmly invite you to join us this Sunday at 2.00pm in the Annette Knight Centre for the Art Exhibition Opening and the launch of our 2025 Grammar Grown wine. This special event also showcases student work from Media and Drama, highlighting the creativity and talent of our senior students. It promises to be a wonderful celebration of artistic expression and community spirit.

Pre-orders for the wine will still be processed on the day, and wine will be available to collect from main Reception next week.

Thank you for your ongoing support and enthusiasm. We cannot wait to celebrate with you in 2026!
