A reminder that this Tuesday (following the King's Birthday Public Holiday on Monday), will be a student-free day at SKiPPS. Classes will not be running on this day. Reconciliation Week

As a part of Reconciliation Week, Foundation students learnt about indigenous plants and their traditional uses.

From food and medicine to tools and shelter. they also enjoyed some lemon myrtle tea to help those runny noses and sore throats!

Peter Combe - This Friday

We are so excited to remind you that, due to a very generous donation from a SKiPPS family, legend of Australian music Peter Combe is performing at the school this Friday at 2pm!

Peter visits many schools each year to perform his famous and incredibly catchy songs such as Spaghetti Bolognese, Newspaper Mama and Toffee Apple.

Peter will perform in the quadrangle and we warmly invite parents (who may have grown up listening to his songs in the 1980s and 1990s) to join us on the afternoon.

Before Friday, we recommend that you get his songs playing at home and ensure your child is ready to sing along on the day https://open.spotify.com/artist/0UrDI2pvxUUaSgkaSkcpjb

A huge thank you to the generous donation that has allowed us to invite actual Australian music royalty into our school!

Parents Battle of the Bands

Last Thursday our amazing parent band 'Parental Guidance' took part in the annual Parents' Battle of the Bands evening at the Prince Bandroom.

We were so proud of the performance from the band and that they came away with a shiny second place trophy after pushing the eventual winners 'The Portals' (from Port Melbourne PS) incredibly close.

Thanks to Bec Walton for this amazing photo

A huge thank you to all of the SKiPPS parents and carers who attended. I hope that you had a great night and we are very thankful that a portion of your ticket purchase will be returned to the school to support our Performing Arts programs.

The Portals will now go on to represent the 'Southside' schools at the Melbourne-wide Northside vs Southside Battle at the Corner Hotel Richmond, 12th September.

Tax-Deductible contributions to SKiPPS

SKiPPS operates two Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) funds which allow parents and community members to make tax-deductible donations.

As we approach the end of the tax year, we ask parents to bear us in mind if they are looking to receive the tax benefits that charitable donations can bring.

We have two funds - a School Building Fund (which is then used to maintain and upgrade our school buildings) and also a School Library Fund (which is used to build and maintain our school library). All donations would be gratefully received.

If you wish to donate please contact Nova, our Business Manager at nova.whitehead@education.vic.gov.au. To find out more about the tax benefits of donating to a DGR fund, please speak to your accountant.

If you have already donated, your payment receipt can be found on Compass, under the Course/Confirmation section.
