Faith Education

Mr Ru Lameijn - Deputy Principal & Religious Education Leader

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to end of Term Two, we reflect on the great learning that has happened and celebrate the wonderful community we are part of.

During this Term the Prep students learnt about the Catholic Traditions of reading and understanding scripture, prayer and explored their personal understanding of God and his gift of creation.

The Year One and Two students investigated how they can be stewards of God's creation and they started to explore the messages in Gospel stories and parables (stories used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson, such as the 'Parable of the Sower') that Jesus used to explain his messages of how to spread the Word of God. They were encouraged to start viewing these parables from multiple perspectives.

The Year Three and Four students explored the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. In these explorations and learnings they developed their own understanding of the sacraments and how this understanding could apply to their own lives, whether Christian or not.

The Year Five and Six students explored the notion of stewardship and taking care of our common home. The question was asked: 'How do you live Laudato Si?' (Laudato Si: The Encyclical Letter of the Holy Father Francis on care for our common home (24 May 2015). They investigated: What does the church say about Stewardship? and made connections to their own lives and actions.

Altogether, this term has given students some great learning and question to ponder about their lives, our lives as a community at Trinity, in Melbourne, Australia and the world.

Term Three

In Term Three, there a some great and exciting opportunities and activities for our students.

Sacraments

Some of our Year Four students will be making their Sacrament of First Eucharist on the 28th of July, at St Ignatius Church, during the St Ignatius Feastday celebrations. Please see the Parent Portal (https://portal.nforma.com.au/login) to sign the permission form for this excurision.

We will have our whole school excursion to the St Ignatius and St James Feast day celebration on Wednesday the 31st of July. We will all walk to St Ignatius together and celebrate Mass with Father Trung SJ. We will then have a celebration back at school with a sausage sizzle, activities and house celebrations.

Furthermore, we will take part in the Feast of Mary of the Cross MacKillop Prayer service and the Feast of the Assumption Mass at St James.

We hope that you, as our community, know that you are always welcome at these celebrations and we look forward to you joining us at Mass or prayer service.

Wishing you a wonderful and restful term break,

Kinds Regards,
