Year Three/Four News

Camp Wyuna

On the 22nd May, Year 4 students headed off to camp. The camp was located in Queenscliff, with direct access to the Port Phillip Bay foreshore. Students stayed 2 nights and enjoyed many activities both inside and outside the camp grounds. There was pizza making, scavenger hunts and archery inside, while outside consisted of beach walks, fort tours and a marine cruise. Students learned many interesting facts about Port Phillip Bay marine animals, as well as Queenscliff and its fort. There were laughs, challenges and good times with experiences students are unlikely to forget!

Sovereign Hill

This term in Humanities, students have been learning about local cultures, celebrations and history. Our springboard into the history side of this unit began with an excursion to Sovereign Hill on Tuesday the 4th of June. Students investigated what life was like in the past and compared it to how we live now, including transport, clothing and photography. Some highlights for the students included watching the gold pour, completing a photo timeline activity on the Ballarat landscape and gold panning. Students are now working hard to complete their own timeline presentation to illustrate the changes in a selected object over time.
