In the ART ROOM

It has been another incredibly busy term in the Art room with many projects taking place.

Picasso Cow project update

The team, comprising of ten Grade 4 students and this year’s Art Leaders decided on a design based on the theme of Health and Nutrition.

As soon as the decision was made, it was all hands-on deck with many lunch times used to work through the painting process.

The students also worked on a number of independent research activities in their classroom. This was based on assessment tasks set by Dairy Australia and work previously covered in an Inquiry unit in Term 1. The students worked independently on focus questions and then together produced a slideshow showcasing their factual information relating to Health and Nutrition.

The “Picasso Cow team” had to also sift through many entry forms in the “Name our Cow” competition.

We had so many entry forms to sift through with some pretty cool and funny names suggested, such as: Mootilda, Milky Way, Cookie and one that really made us smile…Kim Cowdashian!

It was a rather challenging decision to make but we managed to agree on a name that we thought was best suited to our cow and the project itself.

We congratulate Alina Leo and Karlyne Seehoo, both from 5 Green, for naming our school cow, MILKSHAKE!

Congratulations again to both our winners and thanks to everyone who participated in the competition.

Our winners of our “Name our Cow” competition

The design and decoration of the cow along with the creation of the Learning Journal documenting students learning throughout the program will now be submitted to Dairy Australia and judged by a judging panel of experts. There are possible prizes to be won so …here’s hoping! We will keep you informed!

In other news…

Here are some snapshots taken showcasing the wonderful world of art at St. Simon’s this last term.

From potato clay, to Plaster of Paris, threads and fabric, squeegee painting and graffiti and so much more… It’s been a blast!'

Finally, as we wrap up the semester, I would like to extend a big thank you to those who have donated materials to the art room…the students and I have been extremely grateful.

I would also like to thank the students for their continued enthusiasm as they come to Art classes each week…enjoy your holidays and keep on being creative!

See you next term!
