REGIONAL CROSS COUNTRY
Congratulations to Remi, Andi, Jax and Prue who represented us at Regional Cross Country on Wednesday. We are very proud of your achievements! Congratulations on making it this far.
STATE CROSS COUNTRY
State Cross Country will take place next term on Thursday July 18th and we would like to congratulate Andi who will be representing SFS there. Well done Andi!
Andi participated in Football (AFL) trials for the School Sport Victorian Girls Team. During
the trials she was put in all positions (forward, backline, and centre). There would have been at least 64 girls or even more.
Out of the girls who participated, Andi went through to the next stage, which involved playing in a trial game. It gives me great pleasure to announce Andi has made the U12 Girls School Sport Victoria AFL Team. We are so proud of your achievements.
GRADE 3/4 CASEY BASKETBALL CLINICS
Thanks to Umesha, the Program Coordinator at Casey Basketball Association, the Grade 3/4 students had a great time on Tuesday participating in their basketball clinics. I would love to thank our coach Steph for providing a great experience for our students. They enjoyed their basketball clinics and learnt lots of new skills.
If you’re interested in your child participating in basketball out of school hours please refer to the flyer in the Community section of the newsletter.
MELBOURNE PLAYERS VISIT – SENIORS
We are so excited to announce that AFL Victoria and the Melbourne Football Club have offered Player Appearances from the AFL Men’s team to select Primary Schools in the City of Casey and SFS is one of those schools!
This player appearance is scheduled to take place on Monday, June 17th and we would like to thank Tyler who is the Participation Coordinator of AFL Southeast Victoria who invited us to participate.
The Melbourne players will hold two Question & Answer sessions. Seniors were able to nominate to attend these sessions and luckily I was able to fit everyone in, who showed interest in attending. If time allows, students may also get players signatures so they are most welcome to bring something along to be signed. Those students who are Melbourne supporters can bring their Melbourne scarf, hat, jumper to wear on top of their uniform for the session.
Parents of interested students who nominated to attend, please approve these sessions via Operoo.
GRADE 5/6 RESUSCITATE A MATE PROGRAM
This year we have once again organised Lifesaving Victoria to deliver the ‘Resuscitate a Mate Program’ for the Grade 5/6 students. Life Saving Victoria’s Multicultural Resuscitate a Mate program is designed to introduce participants to emergency response management (DRSABCD). In the 1 hour interactive session, participants learn the steps to follow in an emergency situation and the skills to potentially save a life. This program is delivered by a trained Lifeguard.
The program will be delivered on Friday June 21st and will build on what the students have already learnt in their St John’s First Aid session.
Students may wear their sports uniform and we ask parents to please acknowledge the notification sent out via Operoo. Lifesaving Victoria have also asked if they are able to take photos on the day for promotional and training purposes. An additional form has been posted on Operoo for parents to provide consent.

ST JOHN AMBULANCE FIRST AID IN SCHOOLS PROGRAM
We would love to thank St John’s Ambulance for providing this amazing opportunity for our students. They learnt various skills based on the DRSABCD (Danger, Response, Send for help, Airway, Breathing, CPR, Defibrillation) Action Plan for First Aid.
It is so important that all students are able to identify dangers and respond to them and know how to send for help. The seniors also learnt how to check breathing and airways and place a person in the recovery position. Next week the Grade 5/6 students will be following this up with CPR through the Resuscitate a Mate Program delivered by Lifesaving Victoria.
SOCCER FUN DAY
On the last day of term students will be involved in the Soccer Fun Day. Seniors will participate in House soccer matches and Juniors in soccer rotational activities. We will hopefully have our traditional Staff vs Gr 6 soccer match as well.
We ask students to wear their sports uniform with their soccer top or they can wear their soccer team’s colours. Parents please acknowledge the soccer fun day activities via Operoo.
