Lightning Premiereship
Well done to all our athletes
On Friday the 14th June all Grade 5/6 students competed in the Caulfield District Winter Sports Lightning Premiership. In total, CJC, had 11 teams across four different sports; Netball, AFL, Soccer and Tee ball. All teams had a great day and represented the school community with pride and sportsmanship. A big thankyou to the staff for supporting the day, as well as our three parent helpers, Alex S, Mike G and Callum S. The day wouldn’t be as successful without all the support.
AFL
Our AFL team played 5 games across the day, and although we didn’t manage a win, there was a notable improvement from game-to-game and confident levels grew, even though fatigue was setting in the las few games. For many of our players this was their first experience playing competitive AFL so a big congratulations to these students for stepping out of their comfort zone and trying something different!
Netball
At the recent lightning carnival netball tournament, four teams proudly represented Caulfield Junior College with enthusiasm and skill. Each team showcased exceptional teamwork and determination throughout the matches, playing strongly and fairly. The Division 1 girls started slowly, losing their first two games, before winning their next four. They played the only undefeated team in the last game and lost narrowly, demonstrating that they were one of the strongest teams on the day. The Division 1 mixed team displayed outstanding defensive plays and swift transitions to finish with five wins and three losses. The Division 2 mixed team improved as the day went on, finishing with three wins and four losses, while the Division 2 girls team showed resilience and sportsmanship in every game they played. Collectively, these teams exemplified the spirit of our school with their sportsmanship, teamwork, and dedication, making us all proud of their achievements on the court.

Soccer
Le vendredi 14 juin 2024, les années 5/6 ont participé à un tournoi sportif appelé “Lightning Premiership". Nous avons pratiqué 4 sports au choix: le foot, le AFL, le Tee-ball et le netball. Certains élèves de sixième sont allés au football, dont nous parlerons principalement.
Quand nous sommes arrivés à l'école, nous nous sommes tous équipés dans le SLC (pour prendre nos protège-tibias et maillots de football).
Après, nous sommes montés dans le bus avec les deux équipes de foot. Le trajet a duré environ 25 minutes. Notre premier match fut contre Caulfield Primary, nous nous en sommes plutôt bien sortis puisque le match s'est terminé avec le score de 4-0 en notre faveur.
Le match suivant était contre l'école primaire Glen Huntly, nous avons gagné ce match 3-0 et on a bien joué mais nous aurions pu faire mieux. Ensuite, nous avons fait une pause de 15 minutes, et nous avons pris notre goûter. Nous étions vraiment fatigués mais il nous restait encore 5 matchs à jouer alors on savait qu'on devait jouer au max si on voulait gagner.
Ensuite, nous avons joué contre Malvern Valley Primary School. Nous les avons battus 2-0. Après, nous sommes allés jouer contre Lloyd Street School que nous avons aussi battu avec le score final de 3-1. De toutes les équipes, c’est la seule à avoir inscrit un but contre nous! Pour notre cinquième match, nous sommes allés nous confronter à Caulfield South qui ont tenu très fort mais nous avons quand même réussi à gagner 1-0.
Après, nous avons pris notre repas et nous avons discuté de quelques stratégies à utiliser pour les prochains matchs. En effet, nous allions jouer le prochain match sur le terrain avec de larges buts alors cela sera plus facile de marquer ou de tirer de loin.
Le match suivant était contre Malvern Primary School et il a été très difficile. Mais on a quand même bien joué et nous avons gagné 3-0. Notre dernier match a été le meilleur!
Nous pensions avant le match que nous allions perdre car c'était la deuxième meilleure équipe du tournoi.
Ce match a très bien commencé pour nous car à la fin de la première mi-temps nous menions 2-0.
La fin du match s'est conclue 5-0 et nous avons célébré car nous savions que nous allions passer en district. Notre équipe a marqué 21 buts au total et nous avons tous SUPER bien joué!... Cette journée a été le résultat d’un formidable travail d'équipe.

Tee Ball
Le Tee ball était très bien et surtout amusant. Malheureusement nous ne sommes pas arrivés en division mais nous sommes arrivés troisième. Avec à la deuxième place Lloyd street et à la première place Carnegie. Notre groupe était en division un. On a joué au parc de Caulfield et on a gagné trois matchs sur quatre. On était contre, Malvern, Carnegie, Caulfield South, Malvern Central. On les a tous battus sauf Carnegie. Mais on a eu beaucoup de fun !!! La prochaine fois on espère gagner.

AFL
Vendredi 14 juin nous sommes allés faire une compétition d’AFL au parc de Caulfield. Nous avons bien joué et fait de beaux tacles, malheureusement on a perdu. Cela ne nous a pas empêché d’avoir du FUN!!🤣

On Friday 14 June 2024, Caulfield Junior College went to Caulfield park for a special sports event called Lightning Premiership Winter Addition.
We had 4 games to win and if we were to win all of them we would have a final match to determine who will go to divisions . We smashed through and WON our 1st 2 games,
but then Carnegie came along and beat us 8-5.
We were devastated but that didn’t stop us from winning our last game where we smashed them like Carlton vs Gold coast 18 to 6. But unfortunately, we still didn’t make it to the finals.

Netball
In Netball, we played against four different schools. We tried our best even if we only won one game of netball.
It was very difficult, and the other team were really fast and good at netball. A lot of people were pushing and sadly someone got injured from the other team. Anyway, we tried our very best and we had fun.
