What's Happening in Year 4?
Extended Day at Lady Northcote
Last week, the Year 4 students attended Lady Northcote as part of SMCM’s Outdoor Learning Camp Program. The camp experience provided authentic opportunities to develop and practise the dispositions of collaboration and problem-solving whilst strengthening their communication skills.
The Year 4 students were blessed with sunshine and were able to appreciate the bush landscape while they tackled the ‘Amazing Race’ challenge activities in teams. They aimed for bullseyes in archery, worked together to navigate the pipe run, maintained balance on the beams and raced against the clock in the time bomb challenge.
'My favourite activity was archery because we go to use a real bow and arrow' - Zech (Epperson)
'I used the learner disposition of creativity when we had to take the plastic balls out of the pool using only the equipment.' - Trisha (Epperson)
'I enjoyed the challenge of archery because you had to rely on speed and aim'. - Daniel (Epperson)
'I showed the learner disposition of resilience because I bounced back when I missed the bullseye in archery.' Riki - (Epperson)
'A memorable moment for me was when I was laughing with my friends because I couldn’t stop laughing. Everyone was having fun with the group.' Emilia - (Ando)
