Grade 6 Koorie Leaders Legacy Project 2025

We are excited to share the incredible work of our Grade 6 Koorie leaders: Chayce Grinter, Lincoln Clarke, Lukah Harris, Trinity Johnson, Narlah Lanigan, Maddi McKay, Jasper McLeod and Tamara Stennett. Earlier this term, they had the opportunity to visit Warrnambool College and work alongside Jailon Jenkins, a past WEPS student and current Year 12 student, who also served as a Grade 6 captain at WEPS.
As part of Jailon’s Year 12 Legacy Project, he guided us in researching and designing our updated house-colour logos and building names. Each building name reflects the local Indigenous seasons, while each house-colour logo incorporates the colour translated into the Peek Whurrong language and features a spirit animal representing the house. The words associated with each house describe the characteristics of the spirit animal and now, the qualities of every house member.
This project has been a meaningful way to connect with our local culture, celebrate our heritage, and strengthen our school community.
We would like to sincerely thank Karen and Wayne Harradine, as well as our local Indigenous Elders, for their guidance and support in developing our house-colour names. We also extend our gratitude to Mr Phil Dennis (Warrnambool College) and Mrs Ellie Clarke (WEPS) for their invaluable support throughout this project.
Next year, WEPS is excited to host an official ceremony to honour the students and celebrate the display of the new logos around our school. We will share the date of this special event with our community early next year.
