Grade 6 Farewell

What a wonderful evening we had on Tuesday night, celebrating the class of 2025!
First, I would like to acknowledge the Grade 6 teaching team Mr Jeremy Gillies, Mrs Lexi Cooper, Ms Mary Lee, Mr Dale Beaton and Tiger! They have worked together to;
- get the best out of every student
- ensure all students are engaged in their learning, and
- most importantly, truly see, hear, and care for every child.
Our Grade 6 team continues to do exceptional work, and I am sure you will agree that they have had a profound impact on both the academic learning and social-emotional growth of our students.
We extend our sincere congratulations to all parents as we celebrate this special milestone. Grade 6 graduation is not only about the students completing their primary school journey, but also about the journey our parents have shared with them along the way. This is a moment of great pride, and we thank all Grade 6 parents and carers for their ongoing partnership and support over the years in helping us achieve the best possible learning and wellbeing outcomes for their children.
To the families who are leaving us…
It has been a privilege to have all departing families part of the WEPS community. We thank them for their continued support and the many contributions they have made to our school. As they all move on to the next chapter, we feel incredibly fortunate to have played a small part in their primary school journey. We wish all families every success and happiness in the future.

2025 Community project leaders Kaan, Scarlett and Jasper – what an incredibly lasting legacy they have left through the Yes to Inclusion, No to racism campaign. Together with the school captains they worked hard to make change – and boy did they succeed! We want the whole school community to know that they have made a difference to our school, and the Department of Education are impressed by their work and have showcased the advert and poster around the state. We hope they are very proud of leading the way with such a deeply profound message. We will forever be grateful to them for bringing their ideas to life, and we as a school commit to continuing their legacy for many years to come.
2025 School Captains Izzy, Adele, Hugh and Isla - I have been in absolute awe of this group's drive to lead this year. I thank them for keeping us on our toes with their organisation, co-ordination of assemblies and their leadership. They have been intentionally inclusive of all year levels, making sure they celebrate achievements and share events. They have kept the whole school connected by doing this. We admire the way they have led by example. They have certainly left a long lasting legacy at WEPS.
The Grade 6 class of 2025 – It has been an absolute honour and pleasure to be part of our students’ primary school journey over the past four years. I feel very fortunate to have known them, spent time with them, and watched them grow during this time. I will always remember their beautiful manners and the way they took the time to stop, say hello, have a chat, and proudly share their learning experiences.
I hope our students look back on their time at Warrnambool East Primary School with a smile, continue their wonderful friendships (even as some move on to different secondary schools), and carry the WEPS values with them into every stage of life — being respectful, being a learner, being safe, and being kind.
As they move forward, I encourage them to embrace challenges and new experiences, allow themselves to make mistakes and grow from them, value what truly matters, and most importantly, be themselves. A wonderful new chapter awaits, and there is so much to look forward to.
