As the year draws to a close, I wish families, students and staff all the best for a safe and well-deserved holiday break. It’s been another busy year with many learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom and I’m thankful to our school community for their continued support and commitment in making Wantirna College such a great school.

The last couple of weeks ended in spectacular fashion with our Awards Evening, Year 9 Camp Program, End of Year Activities Program, meeting our new Year 7 students and families at Orientation Evening/Day, Transition Days for every year level and our Year 12s receiving their final results. I thank our community for supporting these significant milestone events and look forward to picking up on this great work in 2026.

VCE Results

Congratulations to our Year 12 students who received their VCE results, last week. We had 8 students who received ATARs in the top 10% of the state, with our DUX, Katherine Styles, achieving an outstanding ATAR of 97.4.

We had two students achieve near perfect subject study scores of 49 in Geography and Visual Communication, 47 study scores of 37+ and 21 study scores of 40+.

On Tuesday, we welcomed all our Year 12 students back to school with a special morning tea where we presented their official VCE certificates and touched base with each of them about what vocation, course, employment or opportunities they are pursuing next year. It’s an exciting time for our graduates as they embark on their next chapter and we wish them all the best in their endeavours.

Parent Meetings 2026

To coincide with the start of the school year, we will be holding mandated parent/family meetings in Term 1 of 2026 that will require all parents/carers to attend. Research supports that students do better at school when parents/carers are engaged in their child’s schooling and we want to provide specific evidence-based strategies that will set every child up for success.

Furthermore, we will be providing year level specific data regarding learning, attendance and behaviour that demonstrate where opportunities for improvement are and what roles we need parents/carers to fulfil in supporting their children at school.

All parents/carers and students are expected to attend the following meetings:

Wednesday 28 January

Year 8 Families: 6pm to 7pm (Mooroop Centre)

Year 9 and 10 Families: 7pm to 8pm (Mooroop)

Thursday 29 January

Year 11 and 12 Families: 6pm to 7pm (Theatre)

Thursday 5 February

Year 7 Families: 5.30pm – 7pm (Theatre/Mason House)

Principal Team 2026

I’d like to congratulate Assistant Principal James Doble all the best in his new role as Principal of Advance College in Rosebud. This promotion is a great opportunity for James, and we thank him for his contribution to Wantirna College.

Joining the Principal Team in 2026 will be Daniel Brooks. Daniel will be leading Year 9 and 10, with Juanita Blair backfilling Daniel in the role of Year 7 and 8 Middle School Leader.

Finally, I’d like to thank staff and students for their dedication and hard work throughout the year and wish our school community a safe and relaxing holiday break.
