Year 5/6
Term 4 is always a busy time in Year 5/6 – here are some of the highlights so far.
Swimming program
Students took part in a five-day intensive swimming program at Kingswim in Dingley Village, building confidence and learning important water-safety skills. Throughout the week, they showed growing independence by caring for their belongings and demonstrating courage as they tried new techniques in the pool. Swimming is such an important lifelong skill, and students embraced the opportunity to strengthen their abilities
Kaboom Sports
Students showed excellent leadership during the Kaboom Sports activities, working confidently alongside the whole school. They learnt new skills, encouraged their peers, and represented our school values with pride. Many students also stepped up to assist the younger year levels, helping them learn games, stay safe, and have fun.
St Johns CPR course
Students participated in a St John’s CPR session where they learned the important steps of 'DRSABCD' and how to respond in an emergency. They practised placing a patient into the recovery position and gained confidence in recognising when help is needed. Using CPR mannequins, students also learned the correct compression depth and rhythm to perform life-saving compressions safely and effectively.
Puberty Chat
Students participated in an engaging puberty session with our school educator, Dani, where they learned about the physical and emotional changes that occur during adolescence. The session covered key body differences between males and females, as well as how and why these changes happen. Dani also discussed common challenges to expect during this stage of growth, helping students feel informed and prepared.
Inquiry Quest
Students have been participating in an Inquiry Quest, beginning with a big question about a topic they were eager to explore. In small groups, they researched and recorded interesting facts and important details, deciding how best to share their new knowledge. Each group created either a digital display or a poster, along with a model that represented their findings.
'All About Me' Posters
Year 6 students have been creating vibrant name art and 'All About Me' posters to celebrate their learning journey towards graduation. Each piece includes images and designs that reflect their unique personalities, interests, and strengths.
Team Building Games
Students took part in a range of team building activities designed to strengthen cooperation and communication with their peers. They worked together enthusiastically, supporting one another and discovering new ways to solve challenges as a group.
