Student Wellbeing

Grade 5/6 SPOTLIGHT
This term, the Year 5/6 students have taken a deep dive into child safety, exploring how to recognise unsafe situations, protect themselves, and understand what it means to feel safe, happy, and supported in a range of environments. Through a series of lessons, real-world scenarios, and hands-on activities, students strengthened their awareness of personal safety and practical strategies they can use in everyday life.
At the beginning of the term, we began by exploring the concept of safety and recognising stressors. Students learned how their bodies give them “warning signals” when something feels unsafe and practised some strategies to regain calm and be in control. This set the foundation for our unit on Child Safety, where students examined personal safety in common public spaces and built their “Five-Finger Safety Network” of trusted adults.
As part of Day for Daniel, students engaged in scenario-based problem solving, strengthening their ability to Recognise, React, and Report unsafe situations. They then designed personal safety T-shirts, each with a message promoting courage, advocacy, and looking out for others.
Our focus on safety continued with World Children’s Day. Students explored the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, learning about the rights of children all around the world and contributed to our “Voices of Children” wall, sharing what makes them feel safe, included, and happy.
Across the term, students have not only learned about child safety but have also developed the confidence to apply these skills. Check out photos of their work from this term!
PEACEFUL KIDS
Congratulations to a few of our Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 students who completed the Peaceful Kids program over the last two terms. They were the first children at Corpus Christi to participate in and complete this program. Over a period of several weeks, they learned practical mindfulness strategies to manage worries and build lifelong coping skills. We are so proud of their commitment and growth.
