Student Learning

What's been happening in Year 1/2F
This term, the Year 1/2F students have been diligently developing their narrative writing skills. Students have learnt that an engaging narrative opens with a sizzling start to immediately capture the reader’s attention and follows a clear beginning, middle and conclusion. They have also explored how to build tension effectively by growing a problem from a small issue, to a bigger challenge, and finally to a major complication.
In Maths, students have learnt to tell the time to the hour, half past, quarter past and quarter to, and have further developed their understanding by reading and interpreting digital times. Additionally, students have deepened their understanding of the months and seasons of the year and have strengthened their skills in reading and interpreting calendar dates. Students have also been learning to count and exchange money using a range of denominations. They have practised comparing amounts and determining whether they have sufficient money to purchase selected items.
In HASS, students enquired about the history of Indigenous toys and learnt about biodegradable materials that Indigenous people used to make toys. Students enjoyed exploring the outdoors to gather natural resources, which they used to design and construct their own toy boats. Our unit concluded with a mock boat race, where students tested their prototypes and reflected on their design choices.
Each week, a group of our Year 1/2 students visited Estia Health Aged Care to spend time with the residents. This term, they particularly enjoyed collaborating on festive Christmas crafts which Estia delightfully used for their Christmas decorations.
To end the school year, students participated in meaningful Christmas craft activities. Our students engaged in creating beautifully varied pieces that reflect the joy and celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Below are some comments from the students.

What's been happening in Year 3/4B
In Year 3/4B, students have had a busy and exciting few weeks in the lead-up to Christmas! Here’s a look at what we've been learning across the curriculum.
English
In English, we have been focusing on narratives. As we approach Christmas, we read the Christmas stories from the Bible and explored the key events and characters. Students then retold the Christmas story from a new perspective—such as the shepherds, the wise men, or the innkeeper. This activity helped students revisit the story in detail and think deeply about what the supporting characters may have seen, felt, and experienced.
Maths
Year 4 students have been learning about time, including telling time and calculating duration. They have also explored different types of measurement—temperature, mass, length, and capacity. These topics led to lots of fun, hands-on activities, giving students the chance to apply their skills in practical ways.
HASS
In HASS, students have been working on Civics and Citizenship. This term, we focused on the role of local government in supporting our communities and learning the difference between rules and laws, and why both are important. During the past few weeks, students have been working in groups to create a community space in Minecraft Education. This was a fun, collaborative project that highlighted to the students what local government does to keep our communities safe and organised.
Art
In Art, we have been working on weaving. Students created colourful God’s Eye decorations by weaving wool around two pop sticks to make a star-shaped design. We also completed a collaborative class project where students made individual paper springs, then connected them to create one impressively long, shared paper spring. It was a fun and creative way to explore shape, pattern, and teamwork.

2025 Serve Projects
Our classes have been involved in Serve Projects throughout this year as part of our 'Serve' school value. These have been opportunities for our students to care for others beyond themselves and it is wonderful to see the personal growth in character and confidence our students experience in the process of serving.
Here are a couple of the Serve Projects from 2025.
Year 1/2 Classes
Over Terms 2, 3 and 4 this year, the Year 1/2 students have had a wonderful experience serving at Estia Health Aged Care. The students have participated in a number of activities such as rock painting, board games and Christmas craft. The students thoroughly enjoyed blessing the residents and we observed a growth in their general engagement and interpersonal skills. We look forward to continuing our connection with Estia next year.
Year 5/6 Classes
Both Year 5/6 classes rehearsed and presented worship items at the Seeds Church Thursday afternoon service twice this year. It was a lovely time of connection with older members of the Seeds community and an opportunity to share Biblical messages related to what we were learning at school.
The Year 6 students, along with Mrs Fallon, cooked items such as scones, biscuits and muffins for the Foundation classes to share with their Grandbuddies. The Year 6s learnt valuable skills in the kitchen and even got to use some produce grown in our Friendship Garden.
