Awards Assembly
Last week we acknowledged and celebrated recipients of Years 9 and 10 subject electives and sports awards at our Awards Assembly. Boys who have selected subjects they are naturally interested in, combined with a positive work ethic have gone on to achieve outstanding results. They have demonstrated great commitment to their chosen areas of study and, in turn, have begun to shape their own career pathways.
As a College we will always recognise and celebrate those young men who achieve outstanding results. These results don’t just happen, and require a positive attitude and work ethic to push and challenge themselves. Our elective programme is extensive and highly dependent upon our skilled and passionate teaching staff, without whom these offerings could not be possible.
Our sports award recipients highlight our commitment and belonging to our community and all the extra-curricular opportunities that are on offer. In particular, we thank and acknowledge Mr Moschogianis and Mr Briggs for their coordination and for making these opportunities possible. At SVC, we always encourage boys to get involved. For it is when they get involved, they begin to realise their sense of connection to both their peers, staff and College. This sense of belonging inevitably influences all parts of school life.
To those who received recognition for their efforts, we congratulate you on your hard work. To those who know they could raise the bar and work that ten per cent harder or more effectively, we encourage you to reflect on how you go about your studies. Are you setting yourself up for success? Are you giving yourself the best opportunity to improve? Having a chat with your PC teacher or subject teacher is a great way in starting to ramp things up.
Class Allocations 2026:
Thank you for your feedback and engagement around the College seeking details pertaining to the class allocation process for 2026. Considerable work is being undertaken to ensure learning group allocations best meet the needs of each individual student at the College.
The College is currently undertaking a comprehensive data-driven process to determine learning group allocations. Data from sources such as PAT Testing, NAPLAN, school assessment data, application to learning, student engagement and social behaviour will all be taken into consideration when determining class allocations.
Please note that experience highlights that being with friends does not always support boys in achieving academic success and this is not grounds for a specific allocation. The College will take all recommendations into consideration in conjunction with the data outlined above. However due to logistical restraints, it may not be possible to accommodate all learning group allocation requests.
Year 11 HeadStart:
A reflective shot of our current Year 11 leaders speaking with our soon-to-be Year 11s about setting them up for success. It was a spot that is familiar to them, taking them back to their Year 7 New Beginning's Camp. I would like to thank our Outdoor Education Team and Mr Webster for their coordination of the day. A special thank you to Mrs Jacinta Waddington who always makes the commitment to join our young men as we continue to honour and remember our dear friend and teacher, Mr Mark Waddington.
