Term 4, a busy time

 As our Year 11s and 12s are well and truly into exams and with our Year 10s commencing exams today, it certainly marks a busy period. The key in any busy time is to be:

  • planned and organised;
  • be willing to ask questions and seek guidance;
  • be brave enough to seek help when needed;
  • be able to reflect on how you are progressing;
  • conscious of time management; and
  • able to set up routines to support work habits.

Teachers and support staff are here to help so utilise these resources. The above also applies to our Years 7 to 9 students who are in the thick of assessment tasks. Using class time efficiently is at the heart of our success and supporting this with further study habits outside of the classroom can never be underestimated.

Wishing our young men every success as they enter this busy period. Some motivational food for thought below from Kobe Bryant.

 Kobe Bryant – The Mamba Mentality (Basketball)

Kobe Bryant was famous not only for his talent but for his unmatched work ethic.He would start training at 4:00 am, often completing multiple workouts before his teammates even arrived. He once said:

“I may not be the most talented, but no one will ever outwork me.” That dedication made him one of the greatest players in NBA history.

Student Voice Update:

In our last meeting for the year our Years 9 to 12 Leaders were given the topics below to discuss and unpack. Their feedback is provided below. Engaging a high degree of student voice will continue to be a focus. I look forward to working with our 2026 Student Voice Leader, Luke Morrisby and thank outgoing 2025 Student Voice Leader Alex Davies for his ongoing contribution.

Topics:

Student Feedback:

Recess & Break Times
  • Newest additions which included table tennis table was a hit, more would be welcomed.
  • Wet weather arrangements, what can be organised.

House Polo Concept:

  • Would a House designed Polo Top be something our boys would be interested in, in terms of building House spirit.
  • Love the idea.
  • Subtle hints of House colours, not like the full-on current House tops.
  • Would like a long sleeve version.

Classroom Culture:

  • Ways of gaining feedback from students.
  • Surveys would be the best mechanism, done at the end of each term.
  • Could also be associated with a student leadership roles.

Bullying:

  • Student thoughts/experiences.
  • Huge improvements over their time, less prevalent.
  • Being gentle and kind is a way of teaching about preventing and stopping bullying and should define school culture.

End of Year Events:
