Congratulations Year 12 Class of 2025, Exams are now over! The finish line is in sight — keep going, you’ve got this. We hope you are all proud of what you have achieved this year and wish you every success in your future pathway plans.
Below are important VTAC and pathway resources for your use over change of preference period.
Receiving your Digital ATAR Statements
Students will be able to access their results from VTAC and VCAA via the VCE Results and ATAR Service on the day of release, available this year from 7am, Thursday 11 December.
The 2025 cohort will be the first to experience a fully paperless ATAR experience, with VCE students receiving their digital ATAR statements via the My eQuals platform on Thursday 16 December, and IB students receiving their digital IB statements on 19 December. VTAC offers a print service for students who wish to receive a printed ATAR statement. This service is available for a fee.
Course Updates
Check VTAC for any new courses that have been added since applications opened (view new courses here).
Study scores/ prerequisites
Important reminder: Please take a moment to double-check your study scores - particularly for English.
You MUST meet both the ATAR and the prerequisite study scores for your chosen courses. Unfortunately, you will not be eligible to receive an offer if you don’t meet the prerequisites, even with a high ATAR.
Ordering your preferences
Order your preferences by how much you want to study them, not by how likely you are to get in, as you will only receive an offer for the highest preference on your list for which you meet all entry requirements.
List the course you want to study most as your number one preference, even if it's very competitive. In the middle of your list, include courses where you are more confident you will meet the requirements. This gives you a better chance of receiving an offer. We recommend you use your entire preference list. Don't just pick one or two. Providing more preferences can increase your chances of getting an offer.
Pathways courses
Pathway courses serve as backup options if you do not meet the eligibility requirements for your preferred courses. It is recommended that Preferences 7 and 8 are allocated to non-ATAR pathway options to strengthen your overall application.
Important resources for pathway planning
The Pathways & Careers Team wishes you the very best of luck! Remember — your ATAR is just a number. There is always a pathway to reach your goals, and we’re here to help you explore your options.
We’ve put together some helpful resources to support you through this period:
Change of Preference: Details of support options available from universities and TAFEs, including tours, hotlines, expos, webinars, and one-on-one consultations.
Deakin Pathways Planner: This document is designed for pathway planning at Deakin University, however pathways are often common across universities. Use this as a guide only, then double check with the institution of your course. How to use this document. Example: If you did not get the ATAR for Psychology (Honours) you could apply for one of the alternative courses and pathway internally into Psychology (honours) degree.
The Matrices could provide a quick guide for available courses with a lower ATAR. Example an alternative campus or institutions if you did not receive your top preferences
