On Friday the 14th of November our Senior School students attended a Community Sports day at Oxley College. Our students participated in a range of activities such as, shooting hoops, soccer goal kicking, tunnel ball and so much more!
It was such a great day, seeing our students connect with students from others schools was incredible to see! We are so proud of how our students represented KPS on the day, they really showed the values of excellence, resilience and respect throughout the whole day!
Here are a few pictures from the day:

This term, our Connections program has undergone an exciting change, creating even richer learning experiences for our students. One of the biggest changes has been the introduction of weekly visits to Walmsley Village every Wednesday - a highlight that both students and residents look forward to each week.
The day begins with a short walk to Kilsyth Recreation Reserve. This walk not only energises students for the day ahead but also provides an opportunity for conversation, observing nature, and enjoying the outdoors. Once they arrive, students settle in for a relaxed morning snack before having some free play. This time at the reserve allows students to develop social skills, explore, and connect with each other.
After this, the group continues their walk to Walmsley Village, where a wonderful learning experience awaits. Students spend time interacting with the residents - playing board games, chatting, sharing stories, and participating in simple activities designed to bring joy and c
onnection. It has been great to see the relationships forming between students and residents, and to watch our students show empathy, curiosity, and kindness. The residents, in turn, love sharing their experiences and wisdom, making the visits valuable for everyone involved.

Once their time at Walmsley Village comes to an end, students return to KPS for an afternoon filled with creativity and hands-on learning. They engage in a variety of activities such as building and constructing, painting, crafting, and experimenting with different materials. This creative time allows them to express themselves freely, work collaboratively, and develop problem-solving and design-thinking skills.

This term's connections program only strengthens students’ sense of community and belonging but also gives them unique opportunities to learn from others, be active, think creatively, and develop important life skills. We are so proud of the enthusiasm and respect our students show each week, and we look forward to seeing these connections continue to grow throughout the term.
Our students wrote some wonderful reflections on their experience of connections this term, they provide great insight into what our students loved the most!
