From Our Students

Foundation
Over the past few weeks, they have been exploring a range of early numeracy concepts, including number sharing, number sequences, and the days of the week. It has been fantastic to watch their confidence grow as they experiment with different ways to solve problems and show their thinking.
In number sharing, students have been practising how to split objects and quantities into equal groups. They have enjoyed hands-on activities using counters, blocks, and everyday classroom items to help them understand what it means to share fairly.
Our students have been learning about the days of the week. Through songs, stories, and routine discussions, they are becoming more familiar with the order of the days and how they relate to their own weekly schedules. It has been lovely to see them confidently using this language during classroom conversations.
Junior School
This term, our Junior School students took on an exciting challenge in their inquiry unit: designing a brand-new sleigh for Santa after his emergency sleigh was stolen! Students brainstormed what a sleigh really needs, explored materials and design features, and worked together to sketch, plan, and create their own imaginative design.
Using the design thinking process, they experimented with ideas such as weather shields, improved steering, power sources, and clever storage solutions for Santa’s busy Christmas Eve. Classrooms were filled with creativity as students collaborated, problem-solved, and shared their innovative models with pride.
Their hard work and inventive thinking have helped ensure Santa will be ready for his big journey!
Middle School
In Middle Schools Text-Based Unit, our students have been reading and learning about how Polar Bears are specially adapted to survive in the harsh Arctic environment. They have learnt about the bears’ large paws, which help them walk steadily on icy surfaces and swim powerfully through freezing waters, as well as their thick white fur that keeps them warm and provides excellent camouflage in the snow. Many students have been eager to share these fascinating discoveries during class discussions, showing just how engaged and curious they are about the topic.
The students have also demonstrated incredible knowledge in their sentence writing. Their work has been filled with adjectives, adverbs, and detailed noun group phrases, allowing them to describe what they have learned with accuracy and creativity. It has been wonderful to see how confidently they are applying these skills to enhance their writing and communicate their ideas clearly.
Senior School
In Senior School, students have been investigating Laws and Citizens, exploring how laws are created and the important role they play in keeping communities safe and fair. Throughout this unit, students have been engaged in thoughtful discussions about the laws that impact their daily lives. They have shared strong opinions about which laws they agree or disagree with, and most importantly, why they hold those views.
As part of their learning, students have examined a range of laws that impact different areas of their community. Many highlighted driving laws, such as speed limits, and reflected on how these rules protect drivers, passengers, and pedestrians. Others discussed laws relating to online behaviour and media use, considering how these regulations aim to keep people safe in a rapidly changing digital world.
One of the most debated topics in class has been the new social media ban coming into effect this year. Students explored this law from multiple perspectives, weighing its potential benefits and challenges, and engaging in respectful debate with their peers. Their ability to justify their opinions with clear reasoning has been a standout feature of this unit.
Overall, it has been wonderful to see our Senior students thinking critically, expressing informed viewpoints, and deepening their understanding of how laws shape society.
