Booming Harvest!

Back in July, Anne and our enthusiastic Garden Club students planted potatoes, and it has been wonderful watching them grow into lush, healthy plants. After patiently waiting for the perfect moment to harvest, this week the students excitedly dug up 4kg of potatoes along with a small crop of broad beans. There was plenty of joy (and a little friendly competition!) as everyone harvested and took turns weighing the potatoes.

Our garden continues to flourish, with cherries beginning to ripen and our strawberries, apples and peaches growing beautifully. We were also delighted to discover that our pear tree is bearing fruit for the very first time.

A big thank you to all the Garden Club students for their hard work, care and commitment to helping our garden thrive.

We very special thank you to Oliver White, Our Environmental Leader, as he has achieved his goals of;

  • getting the watering system going again (encouraging the teachers to source working it out),
  • getting scarecrows in the garden (Thanks to Ms Michelle and Mrs M and all the St Marys classes for the art show)
  • getting a compost and worm farm- (Donated, thank you will be working next year)
  • planting more flowers, vegetables and herbs than ever before! - and that we did.

It all starts with a vision and a purpose! Thank you Oliver.

What's next?

We are going to top up our garden beds with soil, compost and pea straw to prepare the garden beds for next year.

We are going to plant some companion plants for our fruit trees and plan the garden beds for 2026 - Thank you to Ms Anne for your plant donations.

Keep being green

Ms Michelle
