Principal News

It’s been a busy and positive few weeks at school. We’ve made some great upgrades, welcomed our 2026 preps, enjoyed strong community turnout at Fun Fit Fridays, and raised over $3,000 at the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle. Thank you to everyone for your support as we head towards the end of the year. Thank you for reading this weeks newsletter!
School Upgrades
You might have noticed some exciting changes happening around the school lately! We’ve got brand new signage out front, proudly showcasing our school to the community. We’ve also nearly completed the dividing wall between the Prep and Year 1 classrooms, aligning perfectly with our teaching model. This means that our last open-plan space is now fully upgraded! Thanks to Year 1 Parent Dean Kilpatrick for installing the new wall, greatly appreciated.
In the coming weeks, we’re excited to launch our new school website, making it easier for prospective parents to explore what we offer and book tours. Plus, our front entrance mural is almost complete, adding a splash of colour and joy for everyone who enters.
Looking ahead, we’re planning even more improvements, including playground upgrades, resurfacing the tennis courts, and general building enhancements to make our school even better. Stay tuned for more updates!
SRC
Our SRC representatives have been hard at work this week, collaborating and sharing ideas about what features they would love to see in new play equipment for our school. It was fantastic to see the students engaging in thoughtful discussion, listening to one another, and building on each other’s suggestions. Their creativity, teamwork, and sense of responsibility were on full display.
This process is a wonderful reminder of the importance of student agency. When students are given opportunities to contribute to real decisions that impact their school community, they feel valued, empowered, and motivated. We are incredibly proud of the way our SRC have represented their peers, and we look forward to seeing their ideas shape our future play spaces.
Bunnings Sausage Sizzle
Last Saturday, our school ran the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings Mentone, and it was a great success. We had many parent helpers on the day, along with some fantastic student volunteers.
A special thank you to Sarah Kavanagh for her support, and to our amazing student helpers who put in many hours: Alfie K, Gemma W, Summer P, and Van and Rex R.
Together, we raised over $3,000, which will go straight back into the school to support our students and their learning. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a positive one!
Prep 2026 Orientation
We recently had our Prep Orientation on Wednesday, and it was a wonderful day! We welcomed our full class of 22 preps for next year, who had a fantastic session with their teacher, Ms. Ashfield, and LSOs Miss Georgie and Miss Michelle.
The kids explored the school, completed fun activities, and left buzzing with excitement! We can’t wait to welcome them back next Wednesday for their second session, and then again on the 10th of December for their third session, where they’ll team up with their new Year 6 buddies.
Fun Fit Fridays
Fun Fit Fridays have been a great success over the past few weeks. Students, staff and parents have been joining in our weekly Run Club, covering up to 3km from the school and along the foreshore. It has been a wonderful way to start the day, with plenty of smiles, encouragement and community spirit on show.
To top it off, everyone has been treated to coffees and hot chocolates from our good friend Bashir at Beau Rock Brew. His support has added a warm and welcoming touch each week.
Thank you to everyone who has been taking part — we love seeing our community moving, connecting and having fun.
Year 2 Ironkids
A few of our Grade 2 students took part in the Iron Kids event last Saturday (8 November). The 1km run was far from ideal, with strong winds and rain, but the kids pushed through with great energy and finished with big smiles. They were very proud to receive their medals at the end.
