PROJECT ROCKIT
Earlier this term, our Year 7 students participated in a workshop delivered by PROJECT ROCKIT , a youth-driven organisation dedicated to building kindness, respect and inclusion both online and offline.
The workshop inculded two major points. The first, RALLY, empowers students to create a culture that challenges bullying in all forms. Through interactive activities and real-life scenarios, students were equipped with socially credible strategies to take action and stand united, rather than standing by.The big idea: “Every single one of us can choose to be part of the solution when it comes to tackling bullying, even in the smallest and simplest ways.”
The second point, CONNECT, explored the positive potential of technology. Students developed online skills to build connected communities, support wellbeing, and navigate harmful digital experiences. The big idea: “Every choice you make online has an impact, so the impact you make is up to you.”
The sessions encouraged students to reflect on their role in shaping safe, supportive, and empowering environments , both in person and online. PROJECT ROCKIT’s relatable facilitators and hands-on approach made the sessions both meaningful and memorable for all involved.

Empowered Voices – A Success Story at GSSC!
Empowered Voices Program: A Resounding Success for Female Students at GSSC We are thrilled to share the fantastic success of the first two sessions of the Empowered Voices – Understanding Rights and Respect program at Greater Shepparton Secondary College (GSSC). This culturally responsive wellbeing and education initiative, designed specifically for our young female students from multicultural backgrounds, has already made a significant impact in a short amount of time. The first two sessions, held in October 2025, focused on empowering our students by providing essential knowledge about their legal rights in Australia, building confidence, and helping them understand and address various forms of discrimination. With strong support from the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District Inc., the program offered a safe and inclusive space for students to engage, ask questions, and build important life skills. A total of 49 multicultural female students participated in the sessions, including those from Afghani, Syrian, African, and Pacific backgrounds. Notably, 22 Afghani female students from Years 7-11 attended the first session. The response from students has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire for the program to be held weekly rather than fortnightly. The students learned about understanding their legal rights, how to recognize and respond to discrimination, and ways to seek help when needed. They also received support from Strengthen Engagements Leaders (SELs), Multicultural Liaison Officers (MLOs) and wellbeing staff who are always available to offer guidance and advice. Multilingual resources in Dari, Arabic, and Swahili ensured that every participant could engage meaningfully, regardless of their primary language. This positive start is a clear indication of how important this program is for our multicultural community at GSSC. As the program continues, we are excited about the future impact it will have on building self-confidence, empowerment, and advocacy among young women. The program’s success also strengthens the ongoing partnership between GSSC and the Ethnic Council, reflecting our shared commitment to supporting the wellbeing and success of all students. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Ethnic Council, Zahra Al Tuhmaz, Muzhgan Qazikhil (SEL), and the entire GSSC team for their dedication to this project. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of our students.
