FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Belinda McGowen Foundation
On Monday 10th November, I had the privilege of attending the handover of the Cuddle Bed to the Palliative Care Unit at Inverell Hospital—an initiative made possible through the extraordinary efforts of our outgoing Year 12 students. Through their charity activities, an outstanding $15,406.00 has been raised in support of the Belinda McGowen Foundation.
The Belinda McGowan Foundation has made a significant impact in providing unique Australian made cuddle bed combination to hospitals across rural, remote and regional Australia. Their dedicated efforts in providing these cuddle beds to hospitals have profoundly transformed the end-of-life experience for countless patients and their loved ones. By facilitating more intimate and comforting final moments, they’ve brought not just physical comfort but emotional solace to those in their most vulnerable times.
With the money, Year 12 have raised has far exceeded the funding required for the Cuddle Bed, in doing so their efforts have been used to contribute a syringe drivers (also known as syringe pumps) a lightweight, battery-powered devices that deliver a steady flow of medication, improving patient comfort and mobility to the value of $5000.00.
What Year 12 have achieved is truly inspiring. This effort reflects the very best of Inverell High School—young people and community members uniting with compassion, generosity and dedication. Their contribution will ensure that some of our most vulnerable residents are afforded dignity, comfort and the closeness of loved ones as they journey through end-of-life care.
Year 12 Formal
Last Friday, 14th November, we gathered for the Year 12 Formal, a wonderful celebration of an exceptional group of young adults. Students, parents and staff came together to farewell a cohort known for their character, leadership, commitment and deep sense of community service. Their strong soft skills—kindness, teamwork, communication and adaptability—will continue to support them as they move confidently into life beyond school.
Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day was commemorated with pride, with our School Captains attending the Inverell community service. A special acknowledgement goes to our outgoing students Kai D, Joshua C and Temi D who represented the RAAF Cadets Cenotaph Party for the last time as students of Inverell High with distinction and respect.
Year 10 Camp on the Gold Coast
Next week, our Year 10 students will embark on their final major experiences for the year: many will attend the Year 10 Camp on the Gold Coast, while others will be participating in Work Experience with a range of supportive local businesses. Both pathways offer valuable opportunities for personal growth, learning and real-world skill development.
