Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop: We are continuing to focus on the book ‘The Lorax’ and the impact on the earth. We are using a variety of comprehensions strategies. We are continuing to explore persuasive techniques in our sustainable writing.
Unit of Inquiry: As part of our unit, we are continuing to explore the impact we have on our environment and living sustainably. We are also beginning to explore what action we can take.
Mathematics: Students will be circling back to number strategies and working through fractions and decimals learning. Students will be engaging with hands-on learning to continue to consolidate their learning. We will also be collecting and representing data relating to sustainable action: For example: Recording types of waste most often thrown away (e.g., food scraps, paper, plastic). Asking how could our class reduce waste? How do you save water at home or at school? How can we use less electricity at school? What are the benefits of walking or riding instead of driving? What could we do to make our lunches more eco-friendly?
