Gethsemane Project
Last year we successfully put together over 100 Christmas parcels to give to individuals in our local area as part of the Gethsemane Project. These parcels were given to clients of the Mittagong Disability Trust and residents of Rosnel Hostel in Bundanoon. For many, it may have been the only Christmas present they received.
This year we have been asked to contribute 120 parcels. Each homeroom has been asked to put together two parcels. Your child may be asked to bring in some money or an item to contribute to their homeroom's packages. I’d encourage you to take your child with you to purchase any requested items. These moments are great opportunities to discuss with your child the importance of compassion towards the marginalised.
We also welcome any families who may wish to put together a package as a family. If you would like to do this, please contact the office and an individual’s name and an item list can be sent home with your child. We ask that all parcels are delivered to the school by Friday 5 December.
Thank you in advance for contributing to this practical expression of Spirituality of the Heart.
Community Christmas Dinner
Chevalier College is once again supporting the Community Christmas Dinner which provides a Christmas lunch for local community member who are either going to be alone at Christmas or are struggling financially to celebrate the season. With the increased cost of living, last year’s event saw 300 people attend. The college has been asked to contribute by providing Christmas Trees. If you have a Christmas tree or tree decorations which could be donated to the event, please drop them into the college by Friday 5 December. Any support is appreciated.
