We are averaging 70% of our enrolments participating in an extracurricular activity in 2024 & 2025. We're so pleased to see so much happening across these areas and the wonderful teamwork and achievements being made!

Firsts teams jersey presentations

During our student-led assembly on Wednesday our summer sport 25/26 1st teams were presented with their 1st jerseys and caps.

The selection to a 1sts team represents the highest level of competition within our college program. It reflects each student’s skill, dedication, and commitment to their sport, as well as their contribution to the spirit and culture of their team.

Becoming a Chev 1st is steeped in tradition and pride. It connects each player to the generations of students who have represented the College before them, carrying forward a legacy of excellence, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Show Team Beef Bonanza Success

Last weekend, the Chev Show Team had an incredible run at the Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza in Scone! With 362 led steers in the most competitive fields yet, our GFK Limo steer placed 2nd in Heavyweight Class 23, and our Hartfield Simmental received highly commended. Our other Chev-bred steers, including Charolais Maverick, performed brilliantly too.

Huge shoutout to our student paraders: Darci & Sam 2nd, Joey 3rd, Katie 4th, Rudy & Georgie 5th. Amazing work across heats with 750+ students competing!

The Hook results were released on Wednesday, and we’re thrilled to share that our Chev Show Team placed 1st and 2nd on the hook plus a 5th with our homebred Charolais! With over 360 steers entered, it’s a huge achievement! Congratulations to the team.

Cricket post-match reports from Coach Mr Luke McGinnity

If you are a lover of cricket, the 2025/25 ISA cricket season is for you – 16 matches scheduled over a period of 10 weeks, two distinct formats, turf wickets on a weekly basis and the battle for bragging rights between five competitive cricketing schools.

Round 1 saw the newly minted Chevalier College First XI take on St Gregory’s College from Campbelltown and St Stanislaus’ College, Bathurst in two Twenty20 games.

Round 1 – Game 1

New captain Ed K won the toss and put St Gregory’s into bat on an overcast morning in the highlands. The St Greg’s side batted aggressively and saw off the threat of the new ball, before debutants Ben H (3/15) and Paddy C (3/17) tore through the middle order with some stump-to stump medium pace bowling. St Greg’s made it to a competitive 83 at the end of the 20th over. In reply, Paddy C (33) and Mackenzie P (32*) made light work of the total, scoring at greater than a run a ball to knock the total off in the 9th over.

St Greg’s 7/83 from 20 overs

Ben H 3/15 from 4 overs

Paddy C 3/17 from 4 overs

Chevalier 2/84 from 8.5 overs

Paddy C 33

Mackenzie P 32*

Round 1 – Game 2

In the second game of Round 1, Ed K again asked the opposition to bat first, and he was rewarded early as Charlie T (3/2) bowled fast and straight to knock over the top order cheaply. He was ably supported by Paddy C (4/11) and Cooper Hol (1/1) who took his first wicket in the First XI. Stannies struggled to post a score of 33 before being bowled out in the 9th over. Brothers Ed K (16*) and Finlay K (14*) went in to open together for the first time and they batted sensibly to take the side to a 10 wicket win and an early mark on day 1. A good first hit out, but plenty of room to grow for the rest of the season.

Stannies 8/33 from 12.3 overs

Paddy C 4/11 from 3 overs

Charlie T 3/2 from 3 overs

Chevalier 0/36 from 7 overs

Ed K 16*

Finlay K 14*

Round 2

Week 2 of the ISA season, saw the Chevalier First XI at home once again for an 80 over contest with the cross-town rivals from Oxley College. The day started with two significant ceremonies – firstly Mr Miller came down to present caps to the First XI team and share some words of encouragement for the season ahead. Then, the two sides gathered out on the pitch to share in a minute’s silence in memory of Ben Austin, the 17-year-old from Melbourne, who tragically lost his life in a cricket training accident.

When the match got under way, Oxley asked Chev to bat first, and they used the conditions to their advantage to take early wickets and have the side in trouble at 3/6. However, resilience came in the form of Finlay K (49) who batted intelligently to suppress the early carnage before scoring more freely later in his innings. Some good partnerships with Charlie S (8), Levi C (9) brought the score to a respectable 118 when the final wicket fell in the 33rd over. The chase started slowly as Oxley batted cautiously to reach 2/30 at the 20 over mark. However, they were within striking distance to make a real dash at the end. Year 7 replacement player Levi C (1/13) was given the ball and took an important partnership-breaking wicket before Paddy C once again bowled full and straight and claimed 6/16 as the side charged towards a third straight victory to start the season.

Special mentions must go to Lucas and Jim D who filled in at the final hour, to play their first competitive game of cricket. As well as Levi C who did not looked overwhelmed as a Year 7 student playing with the older boys.

Chevalier 10/118 from 32.4 overs

Finlay K 49

Chevalier 0/36 from 7 overs

Paddy C 6/16 from 8 overs
