As Buddy Leaders, Year 10 students play an important role in building a sense of community within their Homeroom and House. They help support Year 7 students as they transition into College life, fostering connection and belonging from the very beginning.
Thank you to all those students who have taken the time to apply and be involved in this valuable program.
The application process for Year 10 students to become Buddy Leaders is now underway. It includes a written application, a full day of training on Monday 3 November, and a real-life practice session on Orientation Day, Thursday 14 November. Successful applicants will be notified in Week 8.
On Monday 27 October, Year 9 students took part in the Teens & Screens program, created by researchers at the Black Dog Institute. This 45–50 minute interactive presentation explored ways to build digital literacy and promote safer, healthier experiences online.
Students were encouraged to reflect on their own online habits, consider the impact of social media on wellbeing, and develop strategies for managing their digital lives more confidently and responsibly.
On Wednesday 5 November, our newly appointed Student Leaders hosted their first student-led assembly. The beginning of a tradition that will continue once each term throughout their leadership journey.
These assemblies provide an opportunity for Student Leaders to represent the student voice, share updates from their portfolio areas, and celebrate achievements across the College. They also offer valuable experience in public speaking, collaboration, and responsibility, helping students strengthen their confidence and leadership skills while they are student leaders.
We congratulate Emily and Rex and the entire Student Leadership team for a job well done!
