Chevalier Day

On Friday 24th October the college community gathered to celebrate the life of Fr Jules Chevalier msc, founder of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. Jules’ dream was simple yet powerful—that we would live as people of love, bringing hope and compassion to the world. He reminded us that it is through the Heart of Christ that the love of God is poured out on the world and on the human race. This means that God’s love isn’t distant—it’s real, personal, and active in our lives as we be the heart of Christ to others. For Chevalier, the human heart is the most powerful means for doing good. Each of us can make a difference—through kindness, courage, and compassion.

Our celebrations commenced with Mass in McGrath Hall which was decorated with chalkboards designed by Year 8, based on their understanding of our “MSC way of being.” Following Mass, the college introduced some years of service awards which continue the story of Chevalier and recognise staff who have given continual service to the College across a 10-, 15-, 20-, 25- or 30-year tenure.

Following its success last year, the college gathered for Mission Fair during the afternoon of Chevalier Day. There was a wonderful festive atmosphere and a wide range of stalls on offer run by homerooms. Overall, we raised over $3000 which will help support Catholic Mission and the Vinnies Christmas Appeal.

Year 10 Retreat – “The Heart Inside”

In Week 3, Year 10 travelled to Stanwell Tops to participate in their annual retreat. This was the first overnight retreat for this year group and the students engaged in the retreat in an exemplary manner. Through ritual, reflections, talks, and activities, students explored an understanding of the many masks that we wear and the importance of discovering our true hearts which lie within us. This year, the college engaged Chris Doyle to give input during the afternoon session. Chris has been facilitating student reflection days for over three decades and was incredibly engaging as he led students through song, dance and reflections. Thank you to the incredible staff that attended the retreat who so wonderfully provided a supportive environment for our students to maximise their experience.
