With our fete happening early next year (Saturday 14th March), we are ramping up our plans and it promises to be even bigger and more fun than ever.
The Fete is a high-profile community event and presents a wonderful sponsorship opportunity for local businesses keen to support and receive exposure from the big day.
if anyone is keen to sponsor the 2026 Fete or knows of any local businesses that might want to get involved as a sponsor, please contact Sophie Maguire sophie.maguire@thrivepr.com.au"
A word from the orchestra
A big shout out to our amazing Parental Guidance band and to our amazing school community!
We are so grateful for being granted 50% of the funds raised through the Battle of the Bands for 2023 and 2024. We’ve just received $1,621, and these funds will go straight back into supporting our orchestra to keep the good vibes and great sounds going!
A special thank you to Parental Guidance for their talent, energy and generosity and to the school for continuing to champion music and the arts within our school community and letting the orchestra access to this fund.
Your support means the world to our musicians! 🎵❤️

Garden prize winner
As Chantel and Alli share later in the newsletter, we are thrilled to have been nominated for a prize at the upcoming Victorian School Garden Program Awards.
SKiPPS has been successful being awarded a prize in the 'best edible garden' category - a great achievement for a school garden with the constraints and challenges that we face.
This honour is testament to the dedication and hard work that goes into our school garden - led by Allison and supported by a cast of parent and community volunteers (as well as our Year 3/4 students).
We also need to acknowledge and thank Kara Barbuto for her work to nominate the school for this prestigious award.
A group of Year 4 students will accompany Chantel, Allison and Kara to the Royal Botanic Gardens on Thursday 27th November for the awards ceremony and to take part in some garden-related activities.
We look forward to reporting back.
Landscaping Recommendations Needed
We’re looking to redevelop the bench area beside the basketball court and create a more inviting space similar to the design shown below. This will form part of our ongoing work to improve outdoor spaces for students and the wider SKiPPS community.
If you know of any reliable contractors or landscapers who might be suitable for a project like this, we’d love to hear from you. Please email Neil at neil.scott@education.vic.gov.au with your recommendations.
Before School Supervision and Safety
A reminder that the bell at 8:45am is an important signal for the start of staff supervision in the school yard. No students should be onsite before 8:45am unless they are directly supervised by a parent or carer, or booked into Team Kids.
Students arriving earlier than this are unsupervised, which poses a significant safety risk. We ask all families to please make every effort to support us by ensuring children arrive after 8:45am, or are appropriately supervised if they need to arrive earlier.
The 8:45am bell also marks the time when all basketball games, shooting and training must stop. From this point, the yard becomes busy with students, parents and younger siblings arriving for the school day. Continuing to play with basketballs at this time is unsafe, as balls can easily cause injury — something we unfortunately experienced recently. Please remind your children that basketballs must be packed away when the bell rings.
Finally, before-school supervision from 8:45am to 9:00am is limited to inside the school grounds only. We do not have staff available to supervise the oval or back playground before 9:00am, so students must remain within the main school grounds unless accompanied by a parent.
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school grounds safe and calm each morning and thank you for your continued support.
