Principal's News
Last Thursday, over a period of hours, we saw our school hall transformed. When the doors opened for our bi-annual Art Show, the hall was filled with displays of vibrant colour, imagination and creativity. This event showcased our students’ artistic talents and provided the opportunity for families and staff to admire the hard work and passion that went into their art . It was lovely to witness children confidently sharing their work with family members and to see their excitement.
The art show not only celebrated the talent of our students but also fostered the sense of community noted at Holy Rosary. The support from families and staff demonstrated the importance of nurturing and supporting creativity in all children. Thank you to those who came to visit.
Kudos to Andrea who has exposed children to create a variety of art techniques. She also put considerable thought, time and effort into the curation of the hall. We also recognise and thank parents who supported Andrea, kindly sharing their creative talents; Lucy, Pilar, Fernanda, Jam and Zoe. This year's Art Show was a wonderful celebration of learnings.
Bishop Visit
On Friday morning Bishop Martin Ash visited Holy Rosary School. After Mass our school captains, Estella and Jack, led Bishop Martin, Fr Thang, and Kellie Noonan, principal of St Brendan's school, on a school tour. Following this, Leadership members and Student Representative Council members from both schools enjoyed morning tea with our special visitors.
Long Weekend
Please be reminded that Holy Rosary School will be closed on Monday 4th Nov and Tues 5th Nov as we celebrate Melbourne Cup. TeamKids will operate on Monday but will be closed on Tuesday as it is a public holiday.
Code of Conduct
At Holy Rosary we are committed to the safety, wellbeing and protection of all children in our care. In recent years, there has been continued and increased focus on establishing and maintaining clear professional boundaries to protect both students and staff. This enables teacher-student relationships to focus on education, and the continued promotion of teachers as role models for our children. It is with these ideals in mind, that I have decided that staff will not attend events in their professional capacity, where alcohol is served and children are present.
Christmas Carols
You will note a change to the scheduling of this year’s Christmas carols. While the afternoon session from last year was successful, and suited families and staff, it was not conducive to sunsmart practices. Therefore, this year, our carols will be held on Thursday, 5 December, from 9:30am in the school yard. Join us for a joyful celebration filled with fun and Christmas cheer! Children may dress in Christmas colours on this day. We look forward to celebrating with you.
Year 6 Water Safety Program
A reminder that Year 6 students are attending a Water Safety Program this Wednesday. As per the Operoo note, please ensure your child wears their bathers under their sports uniform and that they bring a towel, fresh underwear and goggles (if they have them). Students will also need clothes to wear over their bathers in the water as part of the assessment. A plastic bag or similar will be needed for their wet clothes after the lesson. They will travel by bus to and from the pool leaving school at 9am.
Science Talent Search 2024
This year we had 10 students submit their science project to the Science Talent Search. We congratulate students who entered the competition and we will celebrate their achievements at our assembly on Monday 11th of November (Week 6) children will be presented with their certificates.
