Literacy

The Upper School have been extremely busy in Literacy this Term! We have trialled a school-wide science of reading literacy block that involved integrating reading, spelling and writing. Within this literacy block, students have focused on vocabulary instruction, phonemic awareness, morphology, handwriting, fluency reading and syntax structure. Students are enjoying this new appoach to literacy so far!

Mathematics

Proportional Reasoning has been a focus for the Upper School this term in Mathematics. Through hands on, real life experiences; students have been working in focus groups, according to their point of need. MURRUP DAY

Week 4 we held our last Murrup day for the year. The school was a lovely shade of purple, with a few Spanish costumes spread throughout as well. the students took art in Spanish Dance and games, learnt about Dia De Los Brujas, or the Day of the Witches and made and drew Sugar Skull masks. They learnt about the history and meaning of Dia de los Muertos and how it differs from what we know Halloween to be about here in Australia. Finishing the afternoon off with watching the movie Coco. The students who were lucky enough to receive a Murrup ribbon for demonstrating excellent spirit and participation in the day were treated to an ice cream treat in the afternoon.
