Year 4 News

Where we are in place and time
Central Idea: Exploration leads to discoveries, opportunities and new understandings.
As part of our inquiry into ‘Where we are in place and time’, Year 4 students have been looking into their family histories. They shared their findings through family trees and this work has been celebrated in class. It has been such an interesting journey for students to find out where their ancestors were from.
Many students picked up the phone and called grandparents and great-grandparents etc. to learn about their families. It was wonderful to see students connecting with their family’s history.
Coming Up - The History Box incursion
This Incursion is coming up on Wednesday 30 October. This interactive and engaging session will provide our students with a unique opportunity to explore the past and deepen their understanding of history through the ‘First Fleet’ and ‘First Australians’ topics.
Pen Licences
Congratulations to our students who have earned their pen licenses!

Last week the Year 4 students were lucky enough to attend Camp ADANAC at Yarra Junction.
The excitement of our recent camp adventure is still palpable, and we are grateful for the wonderful memories and experiences our students gained. They challenged themselves on the flying fox and waterslide, worked at teams in hut building and low ropes, and enjoyed new games like GaGa in their free time.
They boogied at the disco and enjoyed the cinematic experience of the movie night. The scenery at camp was magnificent and the weather glorious. We would like to thank all the staff who gave up their own family time to attend the Year 4 camp.

Student Camp Reflections
On Wednesday we were all lined up ready to get on the bus. Because we were heading off to Adanac camp. We were going on a 3-day 2-night camp. And it was my first camp, and I was feeling so many different emotions. I was feeling happy sad scared nervous and lots more. When we hoped on the bus, I was feeling a bit sick but besides from that there was only one thing I really wanted to know and that was who was in my cabin and activity group. After 30mins the teachers gave us a booklet and inside the booklet was the activity groups and cabin groups. And when I looked at the lists, I saw my name I was in room 3 with Abby, Aleia, Charlotte, Stevie, Sophie and Ameilia. I was super happy. And in my activity group I got some of my cabin friends. And after that we got our cabins set up. Then we went to activities.
My favourite activity would have to be the WATERSLIDE it was so fun. The waterslide was around about 110m long down a huge steep hill. And you would put on a helmet, and you would wrap yourself in a blue mat which kind of made you look like a big burrito. And then you would go flying down the waterslide. And at the end you would shoot out and splash in the lake. Then when you think its all over its not you actually get out and ask the lady what was your speed. My fastest speed was 43. And you would do it all over again. It was so fun.
My second favorite activity was the FLYING FOX it was super cool and fun. I went 3rd on the flying fox and when I was looking at it looked like it wasn’t that high up. But when I went on it, I realized that it when higher and higher and higher the further I went on. As I looked down at the ground, I realized I was on top of the lake, it looked so cool and was so fun. But when I got to the end of the line, I got a big fright because there was like a big click and bang, and I was freaking out, but I was ok when it stopped. But it wasn’t over yet. There was a bike and when it was your turn you would ride the bike and try and beat the person running back and when you rode it the harness would come back. If you think running back was easy it really, wasn't you had to run up a big steep hill. It was really hard and heart your legs. But I got up the hill in the end. And didn’t beat the harness. It was super fun.
My next Favorite activity would have to be ARCHERY. But to be honest I didn’t think I would like it, and I thought it was going to be boring too. But in the end, I loved it. Anyway, when it was my turn, I picked up the archery thingy and the bow and let go of it. And I did pretty well. When you let go and looked at the target there would be a pool noodle hanging up and if you hit it would be 15 points. And I hit it 3 times. I was really happy with myself. It was super fun.
The funniest thing that happed on camp was at 12:00 at night. It was the fire alarm. The fire alarm went of at 12:00 at night when everyone was asleep. But everyone was now awake after the alarm. It was like someone squealing in the whole building. It was super scary. But luckily it was just a false alarm. And when it stopped, I could not get back to sleep for at least a little while.
But besides from all of that it was the best first camp ever. I really recommend ADANAC camp.

On Wednesday the 16th of October to the 18 October the year fours had camp. I was very nervous to see who was in my cabin, but I was also very excited. I said goodbye to my mum and of we went. We left at 9:30 on the dot to arrive at 11:00 we were going to camp Adanac which was in Yarra Vally.
We got split up into two groups for the bus. I was with all of my friends which was really good. I was sitting next to Abby and we both were nervous to see who was in our cabins. Finally, we got booklets, in those booklets it had who was in our cabin and who was in our activities group. In my cabin I had Abby, Piper, Charlotte, Stevie, Sophie and Amelia. In my activities group I had Abby and Sophie and nine more people; our leader was Mrs. Grant. When we got there, we put our stuff in our cabin and had lunch and a safety briefing.
Then we went to our first activity, which was the 110m water slide. I went fourth after Sophie, I was a bit nervous but mostly excited. When it was my turn, I touched the water it was very cold, but I thought to myself that I could do it, then I got wrapped up in a blanket thing and on the count of three I shot down the mountain. It was so fun, I did it about 6 more times. Then it was time to have afternoon tea. Which was good because I was hungry afterward, we had the 130m long flying fox. I was so excited I put on a harness then on the count of three you jump 1 2 3 jump. And off I went it was so fun, on the way back for the zipline you had to sprint up the mountain.
Then we had to get ready for dinner which I was excited for. After dinner we had the disco. So, we all went back to our cabins. At the disco everyone was vibing it was so fun we did dance battles, and everything dance related possible. Then we got ready for bed at around 9:00. I went to sleep but then I woke up to a FIRE ALARM!
Everyone in my cabin was screaming like crazy, we all ran out of our room and into the lounge were all of the teachers were figuring out what to do. Finally, it turned off and we all went back to sleep. Then the next morning we had camp cooking. For camp cooking we made damper. Damper is a type of bread. Mrs. grant made the dough and we each put it in foil. Once in cooked we opened it and it was burnt, so we ate the middle instead. Camp was so fun!

MY CAMP REFLECTION
The year 4s recently went on their first camp, the camp was good except for a couple hiccups that went on well we were there, but we will get to that later.
The first game that I played when I got there was GAGA BALL this was super fun to play because of the fun skill set, and the rules are easy to understand, here are the rules, if it touches any ware from your knees downwards you're out, you cannot double touch but you can rebound it in to the wall to get more space, if you hit it out on the full you're out but if you bounce it to the floor and then it goes out your safe and finally if you are one of the top two players you get triple touch. As a summery all the rules plus hitting and dogging the ball makes you not able to lose focus for even a second.
My second Favorite activity was the WATERSLIDE which was the first activity I did. The water slide was very thrilling, and I was quite scared at first but after I went once it was fine I was the last in line but that didn’t matter. The slide was 110 meters long and the kicker is its shorter than the flying fox by 25 meters!
My favourite activity was ARCHERY. I always wanted to be an archer, and this was my time to shine. we played a game, and I came fifth out of 11, not the best but not bad ether. I was hoping that I would get some good shots on my last go but I didn't, because I was holding my bow upside down. I really want to get better archery, so I want to do archery lessons but I'm getting off the point.
Overall camp was great.

On Wednesday we got to school at 8:45am for camp!!! It was about an hour and a half to get there but me and Stevie [the person I sat next to!] had games and activities to do such as uno and colouring. 😊
When we saw the Adanac sine everyone started screaming, it was so loud we were all so excited. 😁
Probably my fave thing was the water slide because you went down really fast, and you went down like a burrito I also got the highest speed which was 41. Also, when it was my turn, I felt a bit sick in my tummy, but I did it and it was really fun! 😎
Another thing I really liked was the flying fox because you got to peddle the harness for the next person. And when it was your turn, you got to fly over the lake, and it was kinda scary! I also felt the same way I felt on the water slide, and it was still really fun! 😝

Here is a review of my favourite activities
1.At Archery I hit a bullseye and a noodle because there was a pool noodle hanging in front of the archery board and if you hit it, you get 15 points in total all of my turns I got 48 points.
2.the waterslide my top speed was 49Kmh and I ran over a disc because someone's disc from disc golf went in the waterslide. And when I was walking back up the hill there was a ball in the waterslide, so I got it out of the waterslide.
2.Disc golf was our very first activity and, in my group, I had James, Zac and Hunter we finished the fastest, but we had one of the worst scores out of everyone, but it was still fun.

Last Wednesday we went on an amazing school camp ⛺ called ADANAC.
Some things I enjoyed were the zipline 😊, beach volleyball 😊, and the waterslide 😮.
The zipline was our first activity and I was in the spot for the first person to go but luckily the instructor said we could swap spots, so I went 5th and we all took turns riding this bike that made the harness clip come back when you ride and I pedalled so fast the harness clip beat the other person up the hill. And then it was my go (dun dun dun) I was super nervous but beat the fear and I was all clipped up "no turning back now" I thought. I jumped of and screamed to make the experience even more fun than it already was. I zoomed down at high speed and then it finished. I then had to go onto this high platform to get my harness off but when I tried to get on, I forgot to use my arms, so it was a bit tricky.
Beach volleyball was so fun, and I thought I would be terrible, but I was actually really good. Yeah, it's a bit hard to go into detail.
The waterslide was epic, and I went on the mat rolled it up and woosh

After a long bus trip, we had to carry our massive bags up a hill and back down and onto a deck where there was like 120 bags just lying on the floor. once we put our bags in our rooms and organised our stuff, we had to go in a meeting area where we ate our recces while the lady talked to us about what it is like an what we have to do in some situations.
After all of that we had some spare time, everybody mostly played gaga and other people threw the vortex while I played on the trampolines. And after of free time we had our activities. I will give you my top 3 and why at third place is... disc golf I enjoyed disc golf a lot because I am a good thrower except for when I threw my driver into the trees (we don't talk about that) and I like how you have to throw it into a chain and how it makes that noise.
In second is...the water slide I loved the water slide but at the bottom the rocks where really slippery any ways apart from that it was really fun. And finally at number one is...the zipline the zipline was really fun because you could do poses in the air but at the end I held my breath because you hit the thing that slows you down. I also face my fear of heights while going on the zipline. I would recommend going on the zipline as many times as you can because its really fun and when you go over the water it is so cool.

Favourite Activities
My favourite activities were archery, low ropes and hut buildings. Archery was fun because you get to shoot real bows, and I skewered the noodle with an arrow which was 15 points, but I didn't get a bullseye but that's ok.
In low ropes I helped Zac achieve not falling on the entire course without any help at all which was super cool because there was a tight rope and a part where it was like a cross.
In hut building Finn and I were partners, and it took us a while to find a good spot, but we found one. We were building a hut with a good roof but bad walls I was sitting in the front, and Finn was sitting in the back. Somehow, I got drenched and Finn barely go wet!
🥞🍔Food🍪🍓
The Dinner, breakfast and lunch were so good! On the first day for dinner we had fried chicken and it was super good! On the second day for breakfast we had cereal, toast, porridge and yogurt it was great! For lunch we burgers and they were good to, for dinner we had spaghetti bolognaise. For breakfast the next day we had the same as last time and for lunch we had wraps and they were good as well.
Free Time
In my free time I sat in my cabin because it was too hot outside I also went and played some caged soccer, foosball and talked to my friends. I also liked how the camp went in a big circle and that you could walk around it.

I was screaming of excitement and happiness when I got told by Mrs Kio that we are two minutes away from camp ADANAC and that I had everyone I wanted in my cabin the second we got off the bus and put our bags in our cabin I realized this was going to be the time of my life I was so excited when I saw the water slide and looked at the timetable sheet and we had it straight away. When it was my turn on the water slide, I was a small bit scared when I was going down, I was frozen from the cold water and smally full of fear the cold water on my face didn’t help but when I finished, I felt very proud of myself and wanted to do it again.
After the water slide, I was nice and cool because it was so hot but luckily that didn’t go to waste because we had disc golf where we did a whole lot of walking, throwing and running.
I was still pretty cool after the disc golf but then my other favourite activity was the zip line because I was going so fast and with the nice warm breeze and the misty air flying into my face it was actually kind of relaxing, I sucked in all the warm fresh and when I got off, I was kind of disappointed that we only get 1 go. After that we got free time until dinner. In that free time, I played quite a lot of GAGA and caged soccer with Alex and jumping on the trampoline while throwing the ball.
If recommending to someone I would recommend the waterslide and also make sure to sit up and lift your feet up on it and also, I would recommend the zip line, it's pretty easy just sit back and chill and relax. And also, definitely camp cooking make sure to leave it in until the foil gets black.

Last Wednesday I went to camp. It was a long 1-and-a-half-hour bus ride. I was very lucky to get lots of my friends in my cabin. My favorite part was going down the massive slide it was about 50 feet I was so excited it was really bumpy, and the water splashed in your face. I went 39 km and hour it was really fun.
I also really like the low ropes and beach volleyball I made it past the hard bit I didn’t complete it because I went to play beach volleyball. The meals were amazing, and the desert was so good.
It was funny sleeping at night, my cabin got told off a lot because people were going under other people's beds and running around then people from the cabin next to us came in at 11 o'clock. I finally went to bed then the fire alarm went off we all got up but it was a false alarm. We went back to bed then woke up at 5 o'clock and the other cabin came in again I got 6 hours of sleep because the fire alarm went off at 12
The food there was delicious we had spaghetti and homemade burgers with chocolate mousse and vanilla ice-cream.
The second night was much calmer we got 10 hours of sleep I guess it was because we just watched a movie it was called UP and everyone else was tired. It was so good can't wait to go again.

On the 16th of October, Wednesday at 8:45am the Bus was about to leave for the year 4 camp!
On the bus we got dedicated to bus groups, bus 1 had all of 4A and half of 4C, and on bus 2 had all of 4B and half of 4C.
On the bus we got a booklet of activity groups, Cool activities to do (like colouring pages and Sudoku’s) But the worst thing of all is that the bus ride took like 7 hours, and Everyone was tempted to start singing songs, but the teachers e.g. (Mr Farmer and Ms Grant) said no more singing kiddos.
When we got there, the campsite was MASSIVE!!
There was a basketball court, a gaga bit, two trampolines, soccer in a rectangle box and 3 sets of cabins, The activities were Flying fox, Waterslide, Archery, Camp Cooking, Hut Building, Volleyball, low-ropes and canoe (but we didn't do canoe) And some more too.
At the end result I reckon everyone would have rated it a 9-10 out of 10.
Best starter camp for all the year fours but next year it will be better or worse - I don't know?
We will find out next year!
By Zac N 4B
Last Wednesday the 16th my year level went to camp for 2 nights 3 days and now I am talking about the 3 parts I enjoyed the most. To start off, my favourite thing was the waterslide, I got 3 goes and it was a in ground waterslide so that made it really fun. You wrap yourself around this map and then the teacher pushes you down, it’s a bit bumpy and water splashes into your eyes. Then near the end you go into a lake about waist height they you climb out and somebody tells you how fast you were going at the end.
Another one of my favourite things was the flying fox unfortunately everyone only got one go but it was really fun. You get harnessed on and you have to wear a helmet and then he counts down from 3 and lets you go; at the start I was facing the front but then I started spinning around and soon enough I was facing backwards! At the end of the flying fox, you swing up and then land on this scaffolder, a lady unclips your harnesser and then you climb down a ladder and walk back up to the flying fox. Once you have had your go you get to have a turn peddling the bike to get the flying fox attachment back.
The last thing I really enjoyed was the food it was delicious every single time and always had something for me. After every meal there would be a duty group that would stay back and clean the tables and push in the chairs, my group was the second last duty group.
The thing I found the most challenging was archery, it was extremely hard to even get close to the board. Even if it lined up perfectly for some reason it would never go straight. A few people in my activity group managed to get the bullseye! Although unfortunately I couldn't get any points for archery, but it was still very fun.
Overall, I had an amazing time and wish it could've lasted forever! Hopefully next year's camp will be just as fun as this one.
By Rosie C 4B
Last Wednesday I left for camp with the whole year 4 grade, I was so excited, and I was jumping around with my friends. We got on the bus, and I sat next to my friend Rosie. It was a long 1 hour and 30-minute drive, but in the middle of the drive, we got our camp booklets, and it had our cabins, activities groups, colouring pages and a lot more I was so lucky to get my 2 best friends and 3 good friends in my cabin! We finally got there. We all brought out our bags from the bus into our cabins.
The three trumpets rang, and we all headed out and started doing our activities. We did 3 activities on the first day and 4 on the second day my favourite things we did on camp was the flying fox, I loved the flying fox because it was fun to move on the zip line with all the wind brushing against me. I also loved having free time in your cabins or playing outside, I mostly played gaga ball in free time, I also loved the food it was so good, my favourite meal was making your own roll. We got to make our own roll with any food you like.
I also found disc golf challenging; disc golf is where you throw 3 discs into a chain connected to a pole. You pair up into groups in 2 or 3, you had to stand super far away and throw the discs.
Overall, I had a great time and with it lasted for longer, I hope next year's camp is as fun and good as this year's one.
By Bessie Cooke 4B
In year 4 we went to a camp called camp ADANAC. It was very fun. It was also my first ever camp.
These are my highlights:
FLYING FOX
When I first arrived at the flying fox it looked very long and fun. I was extremely excited to have my turn - I couldn't sit still! The Adanac staff member was telling what to do and what would happen. There was a bike at the back that someone would pedal when the other person finished their turn. Then the person that just got off the flying fox would race the person pedalling. When the person pedals it brings back the harness that you connect to when you go down. No one on feet beat the person pedalling, though. I was 5th in line to have my turn. I saw all the kids having their turns and it looked amazing!! It was finally my turn! As soon as I stepped off the platform it felt like I was flying!! I loved it so much. But it wasn't as long as it seemed. It felt only 5 seconds long! After everyone had got a go, everyone was begging to have another go!! But there was not enough time left. It was time to leave to another activity.
WATERSLIDE
It was warm all day but when we arrived at the water slide it was freezing, and it looked like it was going to rain!!! I was kind of annoyed that it was cold, and the lake was freezing like a freezer! But that didn't stop me from going on the waterslide. On the waterslide you had to cross your arms and wrap yourself in a mat like a burrito. A few people lost grip with one hand and were sliding down with one hand on the mat. It was my go. I was freezing! I sat down onto the mat and suddenly it felt warm. Mrs Hall yelled 3...2...1 GO! I slid down and it felt like I was going so fast! It was a 110m slide. When I got to the bottom there was water in my eyes everywhere!! It was so fun though! While I was climbing up the steps I slipped right back into the lake. It was pretty funny. Then I had 2 more goes! Everyone loved the waterslide.
ARCHERY
When we arrived at archery, I didn't really want to do it. It looked not that fun, and I wasn't interested. But when it was my turn, I was surprised how fun it really was. We each had 3 tries to hit the target. I wasn't amazing and I didn't hit the target the first 2 tries but, on the 3rd, I hit the white area and got 1 point! Then we rotated and everyone had a go. We had time for 1 more go each. When it was my go, I hit the noodle!! The noodle is in the middle of the target, and it is pretty hard to get. I never knew that I would be able to hit it! I was so surprised. Then my other 2 goes just hit the outer white area. I loved archery and I can't wait to do it for year 5 camp!!
MY CHALLENGE
I had one challenge during camp and that was going to sleep on the first night. I was boiling!! Johanna put the air conditioner on. For me it didn't make much of a difference. I was wriggling around trying to find a good position to sleep but I just couldn't fall asleep no matter how hard I tried!! After a few hours it was about 10:40 everyone was awake, except Hannah and Johannah. Hannah was just snoring. Who knows what she was dreaming about?! Me and Freya were wondering why we couldn't fall asleep. I went to the bathroom and when I came back, I saw Freya on her bed sitting down. We started giggling so much for no reason! Then Freya got up to get water and banged her head on the smoke alarm!! Then a huge siren went off!! Me and Freya ran out like cheetahs and wondered if it was because Freya hit her head. All the girls at north lodge got out of their cabins wondering what has happened. We tried to knock on the teachers' doors, but no one was there!! About a few seconds later Hannah came rushing out. Johannah was still inside! Then she realised it was getting too loud and ran out. She said she thought it was Freya's watch. Then some teachers came and led us to the girl's lounge. Me and Freya heard the boys screaming! We stayed there until the alarm turned off. Now we could never get to sleep! Do you think it was just a coincidence that Freya banged her head as soon as the alarm went off!?!?!

When me and my classmates went on school camp to camp ADANAC I had one challenge and that was when it was night time and I could never get to sleep because it was very hot and humoured in the cabin that I was staying in and plus both nights all the grade 4's stayed up because on the first night there was a disco and on the second night there was a movie night.
But I do have three highlights about camp and my first one is how I loved the waterslide. I loved the waterslide because if you were a bit scared to go down the waterslide then you could make it go slow by sitting up but if you weren't scared then you could lay down and then you would be able to go fast. And guess what, the waterslide was 110 METRES LONG. It was crazy how long it was. Also, before I went on the waterslide, I was so nervous my whole body was shaking but I was still really excited to try it out because I always want to give something a go.
My second highlight about camp is about how awesome and fun the low ropes were. The low ropes were like an obstacle course but with very low ropes. At first there would be about 6 or 7 obstacles then there was the hardest one where you had to hold the rope and walk backwards while pulling the ropes hardly. And I fell down so many times and on the hard obstacle course I fell down right on my back and had sand, grass and other stuff on my back. But all up I had so much fun at low ropes.
My last highlight about camp is play block buster because it was fun working together with friends to make the right word also because we also did the thing were we drawed something that the teacher said to draw and then the rest of your team. I loved it because I love drawing and people guessing what I drawed.
That was my three highlights and a challenge about camp.

Camp Adanac is a really fun camp. I should know because last week year 4 went there. I had never been camping before and I think that was a great first experience. Here are some of my favourite parts of camp. Highlights
1. On of my highlights was definitely the Zip line. At first, I was a bit scared but when I got there, I became really excited. I was 4th in line and Infront of me was Hugo, Hannah and Ella. When it was Ella's turn she said she did not want to go yet so she switched with Seb. When it was finally my turn I was so happy. I put on the harness and clipped onto the zip line. When I was ready, I pushed of, and I went flying!!! It was amazing. I just wish it was a bit longer or that we could go twice.😁
2. Another thing I really enjoyed was archery. We all got put into groups of three and me, Eva and Hannah were up first. We put on a arm Gard and took are places. We stretched the bow back and shot. I did not hit the target but for my first time playing, I got pretty close. We rotated through two rounds, and I hit the target twice!!!!!!!!!! Eva was really good though. I'm not sure if it was just luck but she got............. 20 points! There was a pool noodle in the middle of the target and if you hit it, you got 15 points. Eva ended up hitting it. 🎯 3. My final favourite activity was the gaga pit. At first, I did not like it and had not tried but when I did, I really liked it. I ended up being quite good at it and when I versed around 12 boys I came second. I played that game in most of my free time other than when it was raining. 😍
Not all the things at camp were so amazing though. Challenge
1. A challenge at camp was getting to sleep. Infact on the first night something scarier than the zip line happened. I was in a cabin with Zoe and Ella. We were all really tired after the disco and it was around 12pm when the fire alarm went off!!!!!!!! It was so loud my ears started ringing. I jumped out of bed and went outside where it was a bit less loud. The Ella came followed by Zoe last. All the girls in north lodge (my cabins name) including the teachers went to the cafeteria and we had to stay there for around 20 minutes and when it stopped everyone was so relieved! 😦

The Wednesday on the 16th of 2024 we departed school on the buses for an hour and 20 minutes trip to CYC Adanac. The bus trip was a good drive and in the start of the trip they handed our camp booklets out to all of us. In my cabin were Ethan, Alex and Eddy. It was a great cabin, and, in my activity, group were Levi, Spencer, Alex, Ethan, Robbie, Lila, Harriet, Ellie, Izzie D and Charlotte S with Ms Carter as our group leader.
One of the highlights was the waterslide it was 110 metres and the fastest time we were there was 52 km that was Hugo!!🏴!! It was really good and fun. The day we did it was Thursday (the best day to it!!)
We have to sit in a mat to go down. The bad thing was that I got stung by a bee so I couldn't do more. 😭😢😭
The second highlight was the flying fox!!
It was nice and warm when we did this because this was our last group activity!!!😢. We also had to get the zipline back, so we tried to race it and I was the only person to bet it!!!!
We had to be strapped to a harness that was connected to the flying fox.
We all had a go, but Charlotte was scared but as soon as she let go of the platform, she had a big smile on her face because Ms Carter took heaps of photos!! Some of us did no hands the whole way and that was Me, Spencer and Levi. I think??
The final highlight was the Beach volleyball.
In beach volleyball we played it, and we all learnt how to do it.
We all were really good, and we played 3 games. Ms Carter took great action shots to!!! She also played to!! Also, she said for us to sign up next year. But sadly, I couldn't do all of beach volleyball because I broke my tooth in half in Feb.😢
The challenge was the hut building because we had to make it waterproof and suitable for all the different type of weather.
The other team had a smaller one then ours but had more sticks. But our one had more space but least sticks.
The good thing was that we got the drop of for sticks and logs, so we all got there then the other team found out. The teams were Me, Levi, Spencer, Ethan and Alex. In the other team it was Robbie, Lila, Harriet, Izzie, Ellie and Charlotte.
Ms Carter also let us pour the water on the huts, so the group did to us first and they mostly got Ethan so when we poured, we mostly got Harriet.
We all had an awesome time at camp, and we would keep the memories for a lifetime.

On the 16th year 4 went to camp Adanac and we all had an amazing time.
When we got to camp Adanac the bus was bussing with excitement we all couldn't wait get out of the bus and just get out of the bus and explore. The camp was so much more pretty then in had imaged
When we sat down for morning tea and me, and my friends told each other what our activities were. When I heard people talking about a big flying fox, I got a bit scared, but I put it to the back of my mind considering I had its last thing
On of my high lights is achily the flying fox because I faced my fears and had so much more fun than I Thought I would have, and it ended up being one of my high lights.
Another highlight that I had was the water slide. The water slide was so much fun, and I went on it so many times. We had one hour to rotate through everyone as many times as we could. The only bad part of the water slide was the water splashed right in my face, and it was also annoying how only I kept on getting slashed in the face.
The one bad thing that happened at camp was the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night and it was so loud that it woke every up and we all had to get and go to the lounge room, but you know what they say you can't make a memory without something going wrong.
The last high light that I had was trying damper for the first time! It was AMAZING!!!
We all had so much fun, and we can't wait for next year.

Group 7- Ms Badley
On Wednesday the 17th of October, the year fours had come to school in casual clothes with backpacks, pillows and suitcase. It was not a casual clothes day. It was the day the year fours were going to go to camp Adanac in Yara Vally Junction.
The year fours were split into two groups that they would go on the bus with. I was on a bus with Izzie Dawes and Zoe Barker which I was happy about. After about an hour of boys singing "the wheels on the bus go round and round", we made it to Adanac. We each had grab as many bags as we could and then bring them to the Adanac deck, then all of the students met in a big room called "the meeting room".
We talked about some rules and what to do if on the "unlikely occasion" a siren goes off. Then, we grabbed our bags and headed off to our cabins. There were three locations for the cabins: lakeview (for the boys), Akeshea (for the girls) and North lodge (where I was) for the remains of the girls (most of the 4c girls)
We then got ready for our first activity which in my case, was zipline. The zipline was about the Hight of 4 adults and was about 9 adults long. Once we got our harness on, we took a big step off some stairs and went down. When we got off the zipline, we ran back as fast as we could because we were in a race! At the biggening of the zipline the was a bike stuck to the ground. Someone would sit on it and when the person on the zipline got off, the person on the bike would pedal as hard as he or she could. The peddling would bring the harness back across the rope, except, the bike never won the race. It was a great view on the zipline. I could see the beach volleyball, the low ropes, the disk golf and the camp cooking.
Speaking of camp cooking it was our next activity. We made damper bread. Next to the fire where we would cook our damper was a bin. Except, no one would go near the bin since there was bees all around and inside it. When our dampers were ready, we took them out of the fire, out of the foil and then ate it. Most of the damper (including mine) was a bit burnt but that was fine.
After that we had low ropes and beach volleyball. The low ropes were really fun, but only the girls in my group did it. All of the other boys were doing beach volleyball. Our group instructor, Miss Ball told us to go play with them only to realize that the ball had been bicycle kicked over the fence. It didn’t bother us though. Freya, Zoe, Alice and I just buried each other in sand while the boys' made racetracks in the sand out of their bums.
We then had dinner of AFC chicken (Adanac fried chicken). We also had rice and vegetables and two scoops of ice cream for dessert with any two toppings and sprinkles that we like. I had pineapple and caramel topping with chocolate sprinkles. It was really yummy (: at the end of each meal, we had a lip sync off. Duos or singles would choose a song, then pretend to sing to it. Whoever did the best song won!
Then, we all went to bed... well most of us did. I was in a cabin with Freya, Hannah and Eva and none of us went to sleep. It was about 12 at midnight and we were all still awake, but then, a fire alarm went off! All of the girls went into the dining room while they figured out the siren. Surprisingly, the boys didn’t even notice the siren! Anyway, when the siren turned off, we all went back to bed but now, the rest of my cabin were a bit scared.
We all woke up at about 7, and then at 8 we went over to the dining room for breakfast. We could either have toast, cereal, porridge or yogurt with peaches. The yogurt was my favourite. Then we had our morning exercise, and a lip sync off.
Our first activity was hut building. We went into a small forest and gathered sticks for our hut. Then at the end we had two buckets of water thrown at our hut. I got drenched. When I was climbing out, one of my group members knocked over the sticks and I was basically stuck in): but then I got out, I just had to get really dirty, and my fluffy purple jumper is now brown):
Then we had my personal favourite, archery!!!! We got into groups of three and then we lined up Infront of a bow. We put on some arm protecters and then made the clip in the arrow click with the gold part in the bow. We then pulled the string back as far as we could and let go. The best we could get was a pool noodle the was hanging Infront of the target. Only Cameron, Alice and Miss Ball got the pool noodle (:
We then had morning tea which was fruit and an ice cream. The rest of my friends were shocked to see how wet I was, but it didn’t bother me because our next activity was waterslide! While I got changes, the rest of the kids were either playing soccer, trampolines or best of all, gaga ball. Gaga ball is played in a giant octagon. You use a hand size soccer ball and there can be as many players playing as can fit. The game as played by hitting the ball with your hand and trying to get it to hit some one's foot. If it hits their foot, then they are out. And if you hit it over the octagon, then you're out.
I got dressed in my swim wear for the waterslide. With the waterslide you got given a small foam mat that you would sit down in. Then, you grabbed the left edge of the mat with your right arm and the right end with your left arm, like a burrito. Then, your group instructor would push you down. I went 29 km an hour. When I got to the bottom, the slide kept going in the water which made it very slippery, so I slipped a couple of times, lucky they made us wear helmets (: I wasn’t much of a fan of the waterslide, so I only went on it once unlike some other kids in my group who went on it ten times. People like me just went on the trampoline for the rest of the session.
We then had chicken, ham, or salami rolls with a choice of vegetables and sauce for lunch. I had chicken, lettuce, cheese and aioli in my roll.
Then our last activity was disk golf. It was like frisbee, but you throw it into a tee (a mini pillar) I was paired with Alice for disk golf. Our disks nearly went in the water a few times but apart from that, it was good... mostly. When me and Alice were finishing up, I threw my disk into the bushes and when I tried to get it, me and Alice both got a bunch of thorns stuck in our legs. OUCH!!!
After we had a filling meal of spag bowl for dinner, chocolate mousse for dessert, cordial for drinks, and another lip synch off, we played a game called scrabble. There was a basketball court that had been divided into quarters by hanging sheets, and 20 balls in each quarter. We had to throw the balls over the sheets before we ran out of time. In the end, my team won.
After that, we watched a movie. We were meant to watch daddy day care, but we couldn’t find it, so we watched "up" instead. It was a really sad movie): we had some popcorn, then went to bed.
We woke up and then had to more activity's, except, these were with half of the year. The first game was on the basketball court except, they were 3 bowling pins on each side of the court. You had to knock down the other teams pins to win by throwing a ball at them. If you got hit by a ball, then you were out. You could only get back in by being tagged by your team's medic.
After that we played block buster. Three people represented the team by standing at the front of the room behind a table. The table had some alphabet blocks on them. The teachers would say a theme like "colors" and then each team had to make a color out of a word. We also did Pictionary.
After one last lunch of DIY burgers, we grabbed our stuff and headed home. After another hour of "the wheels on the bus go round and round", we made it home.
It was fairly rainy when we got back but we grabbed our bags and headed home. It was a great camp.
