Sew Sensational

Students in TT10 – Sew Sensational, spent Term 3 being very busy learning many techniques to embellish and colour fabrics. They have tried hand and machine embroidery, applique, crazy patchwork, beading, buttons and braids, tie and shibori dyeing, stencilling, block printing and using fabric pens. The students then turned these samplers into Tote Bags and the end products, I’m sure you’ll agree, are stunning.

Summit to Sea

Alec made the most of the opportunity to apply to the Outdoor School for a spot on the Summit to Sea Future Makers Extension Program, and was accepted. Starting on the September holidays, he joined 10 other students to form a group representing six different schools from around Victoria. The journey saw him hiking and rafting for 21 days in the Kosciuszko and Snowy River National Parks. Unfortunately, the weather was too wild for the group to summit Mount Kosciuszko, however the rest of the trip went to plan and the group made it safely to Marlo where the Snowy River meets the sea. Highlights for Alec include seeing 8 platypuses, snow still being on the ground during parts of the hike, rafting the rapids in the gorge on the Snowy River, making friends, and catching plenty of fish. 

Year 12 Final Day

The Class of 2024 have completed their formal classroom studies, and are either studying for their exams or getting on with the next stage of life. Staff went above and beyond to make the last days very special for this cohort, and are very proud of the way they celebrated the end of their schooling. Thanks to the students for their hard work in keeping the tradition of the Year 12 assembly alive (and for cleaning up so well too). Also a massive shout out to the staff who made the Transition BBQ so great by giving up their free time, creating fun games and activities, as well as providing a smorgasbord of delicious food for the farewell morning tea the next day. We have a very special community at Mount Beauty Secondary College, and collectively, we wish you all the best for your future. We hope you take the essence of MBSC with you where ever you go.
