The Hands on Learning Program is starting a new project involving paving and mosaic.  We are looking for any donations of materials that might help us with this creation!  We are looking for specifically;

  • clean/new-ish standard red bricks
  • pavers
  • tiles
  • river rocks
  • stepping stones
  • gemstones, marbles, shiny things

We also anticipate needing to cut some tiles and bricks.  If anyone is a specialist in this field with their own tools and is interested in donating a couple of hours to our project by assisting with cuts we would be very grateful!

If you have something that you'd like to donate to us, feel free to get in touch with ldonovan@fhs.vic.edu.au to speak further.

IMPORTANCE OF COMPASS ID CARDS

We would like to remind all students of the importance of bringing their Compass ID cards to school every day. These ID cards are essential for:

  • Signing in if they are late to school or departing early at the kiosk
  • Accessing the toilets
  • Accessing the canteen for purchases

This process also helps to reduce the queue of late students at the relevant cohort. We kindly request that you remind your child to bring their Compass ID card to school each day. Your cooperation and support in this matter are greatly appreciated. If your child has misplaced their Compass ID card, please see reordering process to obtain a replacement.

'KISS AND GO' + BUS ZONE

Frankston City Council changed the signage at the front of the school, This space is reserved for public and charter busses.  A small section has been allowed for “kiss and go”.

No student pick-up or drop-off is permitted in the on-campus car parks. Please make arrangements with your child to organise a pick-up/drop-off location off-campus. Parking is available in the streets surrounding each campus.

Traffic is extremely congested on the streets before and after school. All students who travel to and from school via the public buses are reminded to only use the ‘zebra crossings’ on Towerhill Road and Foot Street to get to and from bus stops, before and after school.

It is not safe for students to cross the roads anywhere but the zebra crossings at any time.  Parents/carers are asked to discuss with their children, the importance of this matter.

  • Development Squad: Focused on improving techniques and preparing swimmers for higher levels of competition.
  • Junior Performance Squad: Tailored for younger swimmers who show potential and are ready to commit to more structured training.
  • State Squad: Designed for swimmers who are competing at the state level and looking to further enhance their skills.
  • National Squad: For our top swimmers aiming to compete at the highest levels nationally.

Scooters

We have received numerous phone calls from concerned residents in our community in reference to students with bicycles, scooters and e-scooters.

BICYCLES

We ask parents/carers to talk to their children about riding safely on their bicycles and in particular the wearing of an appropriate helmet. Some students wear helmets but do not do the buckle up under their chin. Any students found not to be wearing helmets or not wearing them correctly will have their bicycles impounded by the school and then parents/carers will be called to pick them up.   Please remember that students must always walk their bicycles when on school grounds.

Please see the Department of Education Cycling to and from School Policy. https://www2.education.vic.gov.au/pal/cycling-and-school/policy

SCOOTERS/E-SCOOTERS

As per the school diary, skateboards and scooters/e-scooters are not allowed at school. As per VIC ROADS, if your motorised scooter:

is powered by a petrol motor; OR

has an electric motor with a power output of greater than 200 watts; OR

has a speed capability of greater than 10 km/h

then it cannot be legally used on a road or any road related areas, including footpaths, shared paths or public areas (unless it meets the standards for registration and is registered). The fine for riding an illegal device in a public area is $909. Other penalties may also apply.

IMPORTANT: Most newer model e-scooters exceed these thresholds and do not meet the standards for registration, and therefore cannot be used on Victorian public roads or footpaths at this time; they can only legally be ridden on private property.  If your scooter is legal (i.e. has no more than 200 watts of power and is not capable of travelling faster than 10 km/h), then you must follow the same rules as for human-powered scooters and wheeled recreational devices (below). This scooter is still not allowed at school.

Further information https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/safety-and-road-rules/road-rules/a-to-z-of-road-rules/scooters-and-wheeled-recreational-devices  We thank you for your cooperation with this matter. Please stay safe.
