SENIOR School

Dear Senior School Parents/Carers and Students

As I write this, our Class of 2024 are engaging in their final week of classes. Congratulations to our Year 12 cohort, 315 VCE and VCE Vocational Major students who have demonstrated the school values of respect, optimism, integrity, perseverance, responsibility and empathy to an exceptionally high standard. We are proud of the connections you have developed during your time with us and the impact you have had on our school community.

Students studying a Unit 3/4 subject are to be recognised for their outstanding participation and behaviour during the Year 12 September Practice Examinations. I’d like to thank our Year 12 staff who put in extra time over their holiday period to ensure students had timely exam feedback to help them best prepare for their end-of-year examinations. Thank you also to the exam supervisor team led by Suzanne Caldwell and the Principal Team who ensured these practice examinations ran smoothly.

Thursday 17 October during Period 2, we hosted the final Year 12 Farewell Assembly. This was a special occasion attended by the Year 7 cohort (Class of 2029), the Year 11 cohort (Class of 2025) and staff members. The Year 12 students reflected on their achievements across the seven years, the connections formed, obstacles overcome and the impactful mark they have left on Frankston High School. Ms Kelly Mitchell, Ms Kate Burgess, Mr Jack Barbour, the Year 12 Coordination Team, addressed their cohort to congratulate on their achievements and wish them luck for the exciting chapters that lie ahead.

My deep gratitude and appreciation go to the Senior Team, in particular Ms Kelly Mitchell, Ms Kate Burgess, Mr Jack Barbour, Ms Sharon Bourne, Ms Michaeli Lyon, Ms Claudia Tymms, Ms Mel Donegan, Ms Tina Thomas and Ms Carolyn Mciver. They have worked closely with our Year 12 cohort to support them throughout 2024 encouraging students to strive for their goals. Thank you for your care, commitment to our students and hard work.

The final week of Year 12 formal classes finished with students and staff embracing the theme of PJ Day, on Friday 18 October. It was lovely seeing both students ad staff exchange gratitude for the connections formed across the years.

We now look forward to exam revision before the English Examination on Tuesday 29 October. During this time the school is hosting a revision program that all students studying a Unit 3 / 4 study are encouraged to attend. Please see the program below. This will also appear on their Compass’ schedules. During the SWOT VAC period and the subsequent VCAA Written Examinations, students are encouraged to study from school and seek support from their fantastic teachers.

As our Year 12 VCE students prepare for their end-of-year VCAA examinations, we want to wish them all the best. We're confident that their dedication and hard work will lead to success. We look forward to celebrating the success and various achievements of the Class of 2024 with our students, parents and carers and staff at the Validatory on Wednesday 20 November.

Now onto our Year 11 students, the Class of 2025 who are eager to step up as the next role models of the school. Examples of their readiness to transition into this role was highlighted by the students who attended the Year 11 Central Australia Trip in September, returning on Friday 27 September. The trip was a great success and a wonderful experience to witness the beautiful environment on Central Australia. Thank you to the staff who attended this trip to facilitate an incredible experience for our students; Ms Jodie Burton, Ms Leonie Argiriou, Mr James Arshid, Mr Jack Barbour, Ms Emily Blaak, Ms Luisa Harrasser, Ms Veronique Lapierre, Ms Hannah Martin, Ms Lorelei Tildesley and Mr Alex Trickovic.

Looking forward to the Year 11 End-of-Year Examinations held during Monday 11 November until Thursday 21 November. We also want to wish our Year 11 students good luck as they prepare for these examinations. Formal Year 12 classes for the class of 2025 will commence on Monday, November 25th, and continue until Friday, November 29th. This is part of their Year 12 Early Commencement Program, where they will begin engaging with important Year 12 skills and knowledge in preparation for their final year of secondary studies.

Once again, congratulations to the Class of 2024. Your journey at Frankston High School may be coming to an end, but your future is bright, and we can't wait to see the incredible paths you'll each carve for yourselves. We look forward to celebrating your achievements and contributions to Frankston High School at the Valedictory on Wednesday 20 November at the Crown Palladium commencing at 6.30pm.
