Principal's News
We keep the community of Auburn South Primary School in our thoughts and prayers following last week's tragedy. Their school community's vision of a safe and joyous place of learning has been shattered. We pray that in the empty ache of loss and sadness, they may be supported and helped by the love and kindness of others.
God, may your mercy filter through the acts of kindness the bereaved families and Auburn South school community experiences. May this kindness bring flickers of light when everything else seems hopelessly dark. Creator God, we place into your hands all those affected by this tragedy. Amen
Sadly, we see many unsafe driving practices outside Holy Rosary on a regular basis. The combination of high foot traffic, children who can be unpredictable, and distracted and careless drivers can have dire consequences. Drivers, please observe the following rules:
- Obey 40km speed limit. Slower speeds provide you with more reaction time.
- Be alert to the school crossing. Do not progress through the crossing before indicated by the crossing supervisor.
- Do not park in ‘no standing’ zones.
- No u turns.
The safety of our children is a shared responsibility that requires the commitment of all in our community. Please help us to ensure the safety and protection of our children, staff, families and visitors.
Parish Celebration of HR Day
Last Sunday, we had a lovely celebration of Holy Rosary Day at the Parish Mass and afterwards in the school hall. The Mass, celebrated by Bishop Martin as part of his parish visitation program, was well attended by parishioners of both Holy Rosary and St Brendan’s. It was lovely to see some Holy Rosary families and staff in attendance. Thank you for being with us on this special occasion.
Year 6 Leadership Speeches
On Monday Year 4 and Leadership Team members had the pleasure of listening to the Year 5 students present their leadership speeches. With confidence, clarity and passion, they expressed the ways they could enact their vision! for our school in 2025. This initiative nurtures their public speaking skills and allows young leaders to make a difference in a familiar environment, setting them up for secondary school. Student Leaders will be presented with their badges at a liturgy early in 2025.
Goldilocks
Our first bell in the morning rings at 8:50am. This is the time when students move from play to their class lines. From there, they proceed to classrooms to begin the introductions to their day. It is vitally important that all students are punctual. Arriving late to class is akin to coming in after the movie has begun; it takes time to work out who the characters are, and how the plot is progressing. We have several students who regularly arrive late. Being just a few minutes late impacts your child, their peers and their teacher. Arriving punctually is important for all.
On the other hand, arriving before the duty teacher at 8:30am means your child is unsupervised. Please assist this by following the Goldilocks principle- not too early, not too late but just right. Just right is any time between 8:30am and 8:50am.
Red Poppy
The red poppy, worn on Remembrance Day each year, commemorates those who made the supreme sacrifice in times of war. We have a box of red poppies in the office again this year. Prices range from $2 to $10 and are available to students, families and staff.
Fees
All fees for 2024 should now be paid in full. We operate on a lean budget and expenses are considerable. Please help us to meet our commitments and to ensure the very best resources for your children by promptly paying any outstanding fees.
