Supporting Movember!

Our amazing School Council President, Georgia, is raising funds for a GREAT cause by supporting this year's Movember Campaign. Georgia has assured us that she is not growing a moustache, although if that is what she chose to do we would certainly support that!, but in fact raising money by getting MOVING throughout the month of November! If you can, please support Georgia and this great cause supporting men's health!

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS!

With Christmas just around the corner, we're putting a call out to any families who may have old (working) Christmas lights that they would like to donate. We'd love to deck the front of our school out and share our Christmas spirit with the community!

Thank you! :)

Vic Kids Eat Well !!!

Exciting news!

We are part of the new Vic Kids Eat Well movement.

This state-wide movement is focused on transforming the food and drink environments where students spend their time eating - including schools.

All Victorian kids deserve access to healthy and delicious food in places where they learn and play. We want to let you know all about the changes we'll be making in the coming months! This includes however is not limited to...

  • Revisiting and promoting our H2O-only policy to ensure our students stay hydrated
  • Switching up some of the snack options via our Canteen service for more delicious healthy snacks that give our students the fuel they need
  • Continue to work with Woolworths and strengthen this partnership that offers our students free fresh fruit throughout the week!
  • Revisiting our fundraising to ensure that we are not promoting and or marketing poor food choices
  • Encouraging our families to support our movement by holding "nude food" and "rubbish free" days

We will be promoting Vic Kids Eat Well on our website and via our social media.

Finally, if you as a family have an AMAZING, healthy recipe that you would like to share with our school community, please email it to newtown.ps@education.vic.gov.au and we'll be sure to share it via our newsletter!
