Safety, Respect and Learning

STSS

This semester, our students are on an exciting journey through the world of Biological Sciences, and it has been a joy to watch their curiosity and understanding grow. Our focus is on helping students explore the diversity of living things and the amazing ways they survive, grow and interact with their environments.

Throughout the term, students asked and investigated big questions such as:

  • What makes something a living thing?
  • How do plants and animals meet their basic needs?
  • How do living things change over time?
  • Why is it important to care for living things and their habitats?

Across year levels, students engaged in a wide range of hands-on learning experiences. Younger students explored the needs of animals and plants through observation and play-based activities, while older students investigated life cycles, food chains, and the impact of environmental changes on living things.

Highlights of our Biological Sciences unit included:

  • Creating and observing  plants growing
  • Exploring life cycles through diagrams, models, and digital tools
  • Investigating insects, animals, and local habitats
  • Making connections between classroom learning and the world around us

We are incredibly proud of what our students have achieved and the scientific thinking they’ve developed. Their enthusiasm and sense of wonder were a clear reminder of the importance of connecting children with nature and fostering a love for the living world.

Kind Regards,
