STEM News – Farewell and Thank You to Angela Holdaway
We would like to congratulate Angela Holdaway, who has recently accepted a full-time position closer to home at her other school in Bendigo. As a result, Angela will no longer be teaching STEM at Macedon Primary School two days a week.
Angela expressed her disappointment at having to leave Macedon Primary School, sharing that the amazing students at MPS have strengthened her passion for teaching science.
We want to extend our sincere thanks to Angela for all her hard work and dedication during her time with us. She developed a fantastic STEM program that our students thoroughly enjoyed, and she brought in a range of amazing resources and experiences that enriched student learning.
We are currently in the process of organising a replacement, and we will keep the school community informed as soon as new arrangements are confirmed.
Garden Bed Refurbishment at Middle Gully – Can You Help?
David Oxworth is currently working on refurbishing the garden beds at Middle Gully as part of a project to expand our growing capacity and reduce bushfire risk. This work will help improve the functionality and safety of the area for our students and outdoor learning programs.
To support this project, David is looking for parents with landscaping experience who may be able to assist with the construction of the new garden beds.
If you’re able to help or would like more information, please get in touch with David Oxworth via email at david.oxworth@education.vic.gov.au
Your support would be greatly appreciated.
Victorian Government Schools Principal’s Conference
This week, I had the opportunity to attend the Victorian Government Schools Principal Conference, which brought together school leaders from across the state to explore some of the most pressing issues in education today.
It was inspiring to hear from outstanding leaders such as Dr Sonja Hood, Chief Executive of the Scanlon Foundation and President of the North Melbourne Football Club, and Joanna Barbousas, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Education, Impact and Innovation and Dean of the School of Education at La Trobe University. Their insights into leadership, equity, and the future of education were both thought-provoking and energising.
Throughout the conference, we explored key areas including the introduction of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0, a renewed focus on the Child Safe Standards, and the importance of working with the Department’s Conduct and Integrity Unit to uphold professional standards across all schools.
It was a valuable couple of days and a timely reminder of the important work ahead as we continue to strengthen our practice and support student learning.
Winter Solstice
Preparations are well underway for our Winter Solstice celebration on Friday 20th June. This special event is a highlight on our school calendar, bringing the community together for an evening of warmth, light, and connection at Middle Gully.
Students are currently busy creating lanterns for the much-loved lantern parade, as well as artworks to share with the community as part of our Winter Solstice Art Show.
It’s shaping up to be a fantastic evening, and we look forward to celebrating with you all.
2026 Foundation Enrolments
We have officially begun the process for 2026 Foundation enrolments at Macedon Primary School.
We are currently holding regular school tours for prospective families, which can be booked via our school website. These tours are a great opportunity to see our school in action and learn more about what we offer.
If you are planning to enrol your child or know someone who is considering Macedon Primary for 2026, please encourage them to book a tour. We look forward to welcoming our next group of Foundation families.
Warm regards,
Andrew Bloomfield
