Christian Studies

At Donvale students are invited to embark on an adventure of stepping into God’s story and the part they have to play in it. We encourage students that following Jesus isn’t just a set of beliefs to agree with but a whole life revolution, centered around the character and mission of Jesus. We discover the Bible and culture through learning activities that engage head, heart and hands, while also generating opportunities to experience community and participate in spiritual disciplines that can shape and form young people towards spiritual maturity.

Year 9 Community Life is the core class time that combines concepts learnt in Years 7 and 8 Christian Studies and broadens them into life application as the students continue to mature in body, mind and spirit. As a community, we seek to understand more about who God is and where we fit in His kingdom. With the increased timetabled classes in Year 9 Community Life, we explore 3 main strands during lessons that involve year level, class and small group discussions, games and role play and personal reflection.

Godspace: A study of the biblical basis and nature of community, identity and justice. Wellbeing Program: A focus on establishing community within class groups and the challenges in maintaining positive communities.

Community Organisational Groups (COGs): Student involvement in practical ways to contribute to the community of the Year 9 cohort and beyond.
