From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents,

The cold weather has certainly hit us, with icy mornings and lovely days. A reminder as some students transition to winter uniform, that students must wear one or the other, not mix and match pieces. It is not compulsory to change from summer to winter as that is a family choice. By wearing the correct pieces of the uniform and following expectations regarding shoes, hair and jewellery are important in the way that our students present themselves and represent our school. Your support in this is greatly appreciated.

Staff Update

As you know Phil Pearson, our Deputy Principal and P.E Teacher took a period of leave mid way through last year.  Phil has decided to take a new position at a school much closer to his home, so he will not be returning to St Bernard’s. On behalf of our staff, students and families, we thank Phil for his incredible service to our school, going above and beyond at all times. Phil was an integral part of so many events, projects, ideas not to mention the learning and administrative roles he undertook. I personally value his loyalty, support, hard work and professionalism. We wish him every success as he begins the next stage of his career.

Mr Reed and Ms Franca will continue in the role of Deputy Principals for the rest of the year and I thank them for their willingness to support our school in this way.

Year 3 /4 Reconciliation

Tonight, at 7:00pm, our Year 3 /4 students and their families will attend a Family Faith Session about Reconciliation as they prepare to celebrate their First Reconciliation on Thursday 5th June. Pauline Cicutto, our MACS Religious Education Learning Consultant will facilitate this session. All students who are celebrating the Sacrament are to attend with at least one parent. Families who are not celebrating the Sacrament are also welcome to attend the session.

Fr Leo’s Golden Jubilee

On Saturday Fr Leo, our much loved Parish Priest will celebrate his golden jubilee, which is 50 years as an ordained priest. This is a remarkable achievement and the Parish will celebrate with Fr Leo this Saturday 24th May at 10.30 am.  All members of our community are welcome to join us for the celebration. Please keep Fr Leo in your prayers as we give thanks for his amazing, faith filled life of dedication and service of others.

Foundation Breakfast

Our Foundation Camp experience will be held on Friday 30th May. They will come to school in their pyjamas, bringing their uniform with them. Once they eat a special  breakfast they will get changed  and enjoy a day of fun activities. The aim of this is to encourage independence and self confidence and is the foundation for our whole school camp program. More information will be shared with families in the coming days.

Enrolments and Tours

We are beginning the process of offering places and parent Meet and Greets for the Foundation 2026 class.  It is not too late, there are still opportunities for tours and to submit an enrolment, so please pass the information on to family and friends.
