Grade 4

English
Over the past two weeks, students have continued their study of The Wild Robot. They have engaged in in-depth exploration of the vocabulary used in the text and participated in discussions about its themes and characters.
In addition, students have been developing their sentence-level writing skills, with a particular focus on crafting clear topic sentences. Last week, they began planning and drafting persuasive paragraphs, using thinking verbs and connectives to strengthen the cohesion and clarity of their writing.
Mathematics
In Mathematics, students continue to develop their number fluency, with many showing improvements in the speed and accuracy of their recall.
Additionally, the focus has shifted from calculating area to exploring 2D shapes. Students are now investigating the classification of 2D shapes, how shapes can be combined or found within other shapes, and identifying lines of symmetry in both shapes and pictures.
