Grade 3

English

In English, the Grade 3 students have recently completed their study of Matilda. Alongside rich discussions about the book’s characters and themes, students also produced both narrative and persuasive pieces inspired by the text.

They have now turned their attention to a new unit on the Vikings. This study will explore significant historical events, Viking lifestyle and belief systems, as well as key figures from the era.

Mathematics

In Mathematics, students have been developing their understanding of length. They have been learning to read measurements using the metric system, with a focus on millimetres, centimetres, and metres. More recent lessons have involved comparing, ordering, and selecting appropriate metric measurements.

From this week, students will begin a new focus on number patterns. They will explore the creation and continuation of number patterns, with an emphasis on using algorithms and identifying multiples.
