English

The Grade 2’s will continue the Core Knowledge Unit, ‘Natural Disasters.’ Their syntax and grammar focus will be on expanding simple sentences with adverbs and beginning with subordinating conjunctions – if, when, before and after.

During explicit phonics instruction, students will be bridging the sounds, ‘c’, ‘k’ and ‘ck, and ‘ch’ and ‘tch’. In handwriting, they will be focusing on the ‘u’ family, ‘w’ and ‘v’ and ‘b’.

Mathematics

Students will continue to explore 3D objects, set up ‘change’ problems and be introduced to division.
