English

The Grade 1s are continuing their Core Knowledge unit, ‘Three World Religions.’ Over the next two weeks they will be learning about how Jewish people practice their faith, Passover, Christianity and how Muslims practice their faith. Embedded in these lessons is the syntax and grammar focus of writing simple sentences with an adjective. 

During explicit phonics instruction, students will be learning to read and spell the sound /oo/ in words such as 'book.'

Mathematics

Students will explore 3D objects, be introduced to ‘total’ problems and learn about place value facts for 3 digit numbers.
