Akshpreet and Mirren

Hello Families,

It’s hard to believe we’re already in Week 9! The students have been working hard and showing fantastic progress as we head toward the end of Term 2.

📖 Literacy

This week in Literacy, we’ve been exploring the letters H, W, U, G, and Y. The students have been focusing on identifying initial sounds, blending sounds to read simple CVC words, and beginning to use their Golden Words to write their very own sentences. It’s been wonderful to see their growing confidence in writing and sounding out words!

🔢 Numeracy

In Numeracy, we’ve been working with the numbers 14 to 18, with a focus on number bonds and simple addition. The students are learning how numbers can be made in different ways and are using hands-on materials to support their understanding of addition strategies.

🧠 Inquiry

Throughout this term, our Inquiry focus has been on stories. Students have been exploring Aboriginal Dreamtime stories, learning to identify the setting, characters, and events. They’ve also been busy creating story maps to retell what happened. To make their learning more engaging, the children created animal puppets and began role-playing characters from the stories; it has been a joyful and imaginative experience!

Upcoming Programme - 🏊Swimming Reminder

Our swimming program is coming up soon, and we’re beginning to prepare the students for this exciting experience! To help your child build independence, please encourage them to practise dressing and undressing at home.

Each child will need to bring:

  • A swimming bag

  • A plastic bag for wet clothes

  • A towel

  • A spare set of underpants

Please make sure all items are named.

Thank you for your continued support in helping the children feel confident and ready!
