Family Learning Centre

May 2025

Term 2 2025  Hello & Welcome to all our Early Year’s families & friends

Big potential starts small. Our Family Learning Centre Campus holds our Family Centre and our Early Learning Centre.  The first 1000 days ethos celebrating the early years of a child’s development from birth of your child. Participation in our Playgroup, Childcare and onto Kindergarten underpins the programs offered at our wonderful multi-cultural Family Learning Centre, and across all the co-located services.

To dream big, our kids need the best start in life. Kindergarten is an important part of your child’s education journey. Starting a quality kindergarten program at 3 years of age is beneficial for your child’s development.

Free Kinder in Victoria is for everyone.

Families with children enrolled in a participating sessional kindergarten receive a free program.

Families do not need to have a Health Care Card or Pension Card, Australian citizenship, or proof of address to be eligible to access.

You also do not need to be eligible for Australian Government Child Care Subsidy (CCS) to receive Free Kinder.

At Northern Bay College Early Learning Centre in 2025 we offer 15 hours week free kinder in our Three- and Four-Year-Old Kinder programs.

Next year, in 2026 this will increase up to 21 hours a week.

 WAYAPA WUURRK

This week our Kindergarten children have enjoyed Wayapa Incursion, and we were privileged to have Auntie Bec attend and facilitate these sessions.

WAYAPA WUURRK  means "CONNECT TO EARTH" in the First Nations languages of the Peek Whuurrung and Gunaikurnai, respectively.

‘Learning the Wayapa way’ is an entertaining learning experience for children to be introduced to.  Story telling with a focus on taking care of the environment as the starting point for wellbeing.

Children and educators from Kinder groups Barribin (3K), Kurrman (4K), Perridak (3/4 K) all had fun immersing and connecting to earth during this enriching Incursion.

Toywell Toy Library has been wonderful this term and we have some new toys ready for lending, so please come and join our FREE Toy Library.

It is open during school terms:

Monday’s 2pm-3pm

Seeking Toy Library volunteers!

If you have an hour or so a week to share, we’d love to hear from you.
