Press Gang: Our Student-Run Newspaper!

We are happy to share the amazing work done by our student-run newspaper, Press Gang! This lively publication keeps everyone in our school community updated on the latest events and activities. Our student reporters learn how to write great articles by using the 5Ws—who, what, when, where, and why. They talk to other students and teachers to get their thoughts and comments, making their stories more interesting. Students use fun methods like Vox Pops, where they ask students and staff for quick opinions, and they collect and analyse data to support their articles.

So far this year, Press Gang has had the chance to interview some well-known authors, including Freya Blackwood, Gavin Aung Than, and Anton Clifford-Motopi. These interviews help our Press Gang reporters learn from experienced writers and inspire them to present information in exciting ways. To support the reporters in asking good questions, we play games that use the 5Ws to generate good questions and how to ask follow-up questions. 

The Press Gang team continuously develop their skills as writers. They learn how to write opening statements that grab the reader's attention and make them want to read more. By doing this, they create stories that everyone in our school community will enjoy. We encourage parents and students to check out Press Gang and see the fantastic work our young journalists are doing!
